Despite Everton being rubbish last week, they can still pull good performances out of the hat. They'll probably just do what Fulham did and frustrate us.

With Santos out for the season, along with Gibbs being out for his career, it's most likely that Vermaelen will start at LB. Looking at how awful Djourou was in Greece, Miquel would probably be a more solid bet on the left, with Koscielny back to RB. But Djourou has been good recently apart from that dreadful performance, so Wenger will stick with him.

Szczesny

Vermaelen
Koscielny
Mertesacker
Djourou

Song
Arteta
Ramsey

Walcott
RVP
Gervinho

2-1 Arsenal.

Always expect a tough game from Everton but we normally edge them out.

I shall also predict 2-1 to the Arsenal.

I'd rather put Miguel on the left, leave Vermaelan and Kos where they are. Djourou doesnt know how to play at right back. Bear in mind the same line up will likely start against Citeh as well, can you imagine Djourou vs Balotelli or Silva :faint:

Arsenal v Everton

Arsenal may have lost in the Champions League in midweek but forget about that, manager Arsene Wenger took the chance to rest a few players and I've no problem with that.

The fact is Arsenal are back at home, they are going well, and with Manchester United showing a few frailties in a few competitions the Gunners will want to keep chipping away and getting results. They've done extremely well of late and even though you feel that they are still vulnerable against the top teams they are still a good side and have shown that with a fine run of form.

Everton, on the other hand, were disappointing in the extreme against Stoke last week. I don't think they had a shot on goal and City easily kept them at bay.

This is a completely different fixture in that having enjoyed most of the ball last week, Everton will have to go long periods without it this week. Even so, and while Everton always give Arsenal a good game, I think the Gunners will just have too much quality.

Prediction: 2-0

Oh okay, he's a great decision maker, his footballing brain is his primary asset and he's lethal in front of goal. Let's say that, even though it's anything but true.

Another shit performance at home. We look so turgid and laboured these days, something which has been overlooked because we've picked up wins recently. RVP is having a shocker, he's done very well this season in terms of goals but his all round play has been mediocre for a while. It doesn't matter so much when other players are offering creativity from midfield, but given our midfield is so lacklustre and the wide players are inconsistent, we need our main striker to take some of the slack in terms of creating and instigating chances, and he's failed miserably at that.

Niall_Quinn
10-12-2011, 03:57 PM
Back 4 have played well, Arteta good, Ramsey sloppy, Song 50/50, Gerv and Theo wasteful as always, RvP with his worst half in a long time. But we are still well on top of them. If the defence can avoid mistakes we should sneak a goal and win it.

Syn
10-12-2011, 03:57 PM
Midfield 3 very good. Ramsey, Arteta excellent and we've created many openings because we're winning the ball in midfield and getting it quickly forward.

The movement of the front three is very good but they keep getting the final ball completely wrong - especially Theo and Gervinho.

And it wasn't difficult to get it right on quite a few occasions.

We had a chance to get a solid lead and blew it. The second half will probably be much harder.

I wouldn't make any changes atm - just hope one of the Walcott/Gervinho chances fall to Van Persie.

but his all round play has been mediocre for a while

Oh dear. Positionally he's probably the best in the league. Apart from this one game he's been holding up and distributing the ball brilliantly. He's even been good in the air. Not sure how much more the guy could do, he's got it all.

Joker
10-12-2011, 03:59 PM
Let's not pretend we've played well though. Everton are actually not playing anywhere near as well as they played last season, and the fact that they've been relatively comfortable says a lot about our lack of teeth in the final third.

Bullshit, anyone who's watched the match will know we've struggled to really breakthrough Everton's defence. Yes, we've had a few openings, but hardly any of them clear-cut. Unless you're watching the game through rose-tinted specs, you'd know that there is a serious lack of creativity in the Arsenal team at the moment, something that was unthinkable a few seasons ago. We've had so many games like this this season, where you can't really see a goal coming unless the opposition make a mistake.

Bullshit, anyone who's watched the match will know we've struggled to really breakthrough Everton's defence.

I watched the match. And we have had good chances to score but the finishing/final ball has been off.

You're talking garbage.
