Rosicky and Vermaelen unlikely to be fit for this. Ramsey out for a few weeks. Coquelin still out. Benayoun will probably drop into the midfield.

Will probably be a 0-0 draw.

We're both on a massive high so will be full of confidence.

0-0.

No Agger for this, either.

It would be a big shame if we lost after the highs of today, so hopefully we can pull another great performance out the bag.

I think a point would be decent anyway.

This is on 3rd March btw, not 10th.

It's key that Vermaelen is fit for this. Maybe he's not at his best. Maybe he's overrated. But he's still a very good defender and a very important presence in the back four when he is playing as a CB. Djourou and Squillaci are several levels down from an off-form Vermaelen. He didn't give Adebayor a sniff in the second half.

Needs us to win by a last minute disputed pelanty, Kenny saying it wasn't as Wenger walks up to him to shake hands and then tells him to fuck off.

The 4-5-1/4-3-3 to have a bit of presence in midfield which is where our games are usually won. Knowing us though we'll go with the 3 centre backs for a laugh.

It is pretty much impossible to predict how this game will go. While I don't expect the heroics of yesterday every week, it would be nice if we could get consistency of approach to the match closer in line to that we just witnessed rather than the garbage that has peppered this season.

Marc Overmars
27-02-2012, 11:52 AM
I think we'll become strong favourites for 4th if we manage to win this, given we have Chelsea at home to come where I think we should be confident of a result.

But of course winning at Anfield is not something that happens all the time, so I hope we treat the game with the same intensity as we did yesterday.

Arsenal started the game very quickly. Just because Arsenal conceded a fluke goal and a penalty doesn't mean they didn't. Fans want to see pressing at crazy levels but it also leaves holes for good teams to counter. I think Liverpool won't carry a big counter-attacking threat so the game-plan should be to just go mental. Bellamy's the one to watch on the break.

Liverpool v Arsenal (1245 GMT)

Last week's fantastic comeback to beat Tottenham 5-2 was a great way for Arsenal to bounce back from a difficult couple of weeks.
That game probably summed up where the Gunners are at the moment, because for half of it they looked a complete mess - almost shambolic.
If Tottenham had reached half-time leading 2-0, then I think they would have won comfortably. But, after that, it was just irresistible Arsenal.
Liverpool's big problem will be coming back down to earth after winning the Carling Cup on Sunday.
What won't help them is that they might be without Steven Gerrard, who came off early on in England's friendly with the Netherlands on Wednesday. He had a tight hamstring and it was just a precaution, but he is still a doubt.
But whether Gerrard plays or not, this is Liverpool playing at Anfield, so I have really got to go for a draw haven't I? That has been the story of their season at home.
Their failure to convert their chances almost cost them against Cardiff City at Wembley but I think they deserved to win the game. The Reds' big problem, though, as I've said before is that I just don't think they get enough people forward and into the opposition penalty area at key times.
This is a big game in the race for fourth place and the final Champions League spot, and I think it will end with the points being shared.
Prediction: 1-1

It can't be too often a sixth/seventh placed team (I think they'll finish sixth) has gone a season unbeaten at home, if at all.

I have a theory about it though, teams don't need to take unneccesary risks against Liverpool away from home because it's so rare that they get a decent lead. I mean, 14 goals at home.

Sagna needs a slap. How did he allow that cross to happen?

Our fullbacks need to sort their game out. Marking has to be tighter and they can't go bombing forward all game and leave the team exposed as they have.

Passing from the middle needs to be better. Arteta has to sort his game out. No pressure on him and he passes it directly to a Liverpool player. Luckily, we're back in the game from a very good cross from Sagna and RVP getting in the end of it.

Need a much better second half performance.

Syn
03-03-2012, 01:37 PM
Fucking hell. Pure luck coupled with some smart saves from Chez.

Not sure what changes we can make because these are supposed to be our possession players. Song, Arteta, Benayoun, Rosicky are expected to be able to keep the ball better than they are. If we throw on Oxlade, there's a danger of Liverpool out-running us completely and walking to goal even easier than they are now. Diaby could bring some physical presence but I suppose he's just as likely to start a fluid counter-attacking move as get sent off. High risk, to say the least.

Usually I'd be saying it's an easy decision for Wenger to change things by doing x,y,z but it's a tricky one today. Midfield have to do better. The defence has been rubbish but we need more from Song, Arteta, Rosicky and Benayoun.

Marc Overmars
03-03-2012, 01:37 PM
I think we've been quite sloppy in giving the ball away very cheaply in dangerous areas. The midfield need to tighten up because Liverpool are picking passes through with ease.

Still, we're level at least, somehow.
