RVP has been a bit shit for the past two games. He needs to redeem himself by banging in at least four against Villa.

I think Santos and Oxlade-Chamberlain will come in for this.

3-1 Arsenal.

Must win.

Hope we're not lacking a little bit of sharpness from tonight.

Hope we don't play with the handbrake on.

Hope we still have some petrol left in the tank.

Come on Arsenal!

Arsenal v Aston Villa

Arsenal played well in their win over Everton at Goodison Park on Wednesday, even if they did ride their luck a little bit with that Toffees goal which was wrongly disallowed for offside.
Villa will go to Emirates Stadium with the aim of being difficult to beat and I certainly do not see them being capable of causing the Gunners' defence too many problems.
It was important for Villa that they beat Fulham in their last match because it gives them some more breathing space above the teams at the foot of the table.
Villa are going to be fine in terms of staying up but there are issues that need to be sorted out because they have had a disappointing season.
Prediction: 2-0

ALEX McLEISH spotted the raw talent of a little-known Dutch kid during a UEFA Cup tie 10 YEARS ago.

But it was Big Eck's bad luck that Rangers had just splashed out £15million on Ronald de Boer, Claudio Caniggia and Tore Andre Flo when Feyenoord's Robin van Persie was available for £2.75m.

Feyenoord's Pierre van Hooijdonk scored twice in the 3-2 win but it was 18-year-old Van Persie who caught McLeish's eye.

And the Aston Villa boss admitted they will have their work cut out trying to stop the Dutchman at the Emirates today.

McLeish said: "Van Persie has raised his game to another level and has to be recognised as one of the best in the world.

"I came up against him when Rangers played Feyenoord and we knew then he was going to be a star.

"His finishing recently has been amazing and he can score all different types of goals."

But ex-Scotland World Cup defender Big Eck knows how he would stop him and confessed: "I might have used the old body-block against him."

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/4214966/Alex-McLeish-I-nearly-signed-Robin-Van-Persie-ten-years-ago.html

They bought Flo and De Boer in 2000 and Cannigia a year later so how does that stop them buying RVP in 2003?

Nevertheless McLeish does a Wenger

He doesn't say anything about being close to signing Van Persie or not being able to sign Van Persie. He doesn't say anything about Caniggia and Flo. All he says is that his team played against Van Persie and he knew he was going to be great. That's all. The headline in The Sun 'I nearly signed Van Persie' is designed to mislead morons.

As long as Wenger keeps Ramsey out of the squad. He messes up the balance of the squad. Play Rosicky in the centre and the Ox on the left.

The quality of our football has been variable in recent games, despite the good results, so if we repeat the 2nd half performance against Everton we could be caught out.

Whats the likely Villa line up?

They have lost only once at the Emirates in the league in 5 years

This isnt a home banker by any means. Hoping Heskey starts. Our defence has done well recently but some extra protection from Ivanhoe will be much appreciated

This is exactly why I'm skeptical about our 'rivival' and the part Wenger has played in it. I would say the good results we've seen have been a result of Rosicky playing in the centre and pulling the strings. If Ramsey wasn't injured, I doubt we'd have seen this recent run because Wenger would continue to leave Rosicky on the bench or play him wide. I hope I'm wrong but Wenger needs to cut Ramsey out, play Rosicky im te centre with Ox on the left. That's the right balance and always has been. But does he see that?

Marc Overmars

Playing square pegs in round holes DOESN'T work, we've seen enough evidence of that. This is why the praise Wenger's been getting recently is OTT in my opinion. He hasn't really changed his philosophy, and he's still making the same mistakes.

But nobody is saying we're winning games through any tactical genius. We're doing it through sheer determination. If we're willing to criticise the manager for our players pissing away leads in the last minute because they're mentally weak and panicky, we surely have to give credit to Arsene for the way the players have been resilient and come fighting back when nobody (including myself) game them much of a chance to get 3rd. There's still a long way to go (1/4 of a season) and everyone - not least Wenger - is saying we need to be wary of how quickly things can change.

Rosicky did play in the centre against Everton.

There was barely any danger coming from Everton's right on Wednesday, so Ramsey being deployed there worked out ok. He didn't play that badly really, it's just that his finishing is awful currently.

Absolutely marvellous. I don't think there have been any outstanding performers, they've all been fantastic. Arguably the worst has been RVP - which says it all. Gervinho with his tracking back, Rosicky and Arteta with their use of the ball, Song has stayed back a bit more in this game and run it rather well. Fullbacks fantastic. Walcott not for the first time in recent weeks gets his technique right and is now playing consistently well. It's all very good.

Need to keep it this simple - keep the pressing levels up (which have been superb).

Villa will get ugly in the second half - they'll stick a foot-in and be much less passive. The players need to be wary that it'll be a tougher physical battle in the second. I should be taking the team talk tbh.
