I sense great fuck-up potential here.

But if we're not sloppy and keep Ramsey off the pitch, we should be ok.

Koscielny missing against Wolves and Wigan is not too big a disaster.

Wolves are dreadful, all the other pub teams are fighting for it but this lot are as good as gone IMO. After today it would be gutting if we didn't pick up the win. Spurs will probably be above us as well so we must win.

1-3 to the Arsenal.

Syn

1-1

Vermaelen and Djourou are 'active' defenders. Koscielny and Mertesacker are more calm and dormant. Ideally you'd have one of each. But two calms are better than two actives. Can see both of them going for the same ball and Fletcher or whatever average they've got will slot home - probably in aid of a deflection.

Wolves v Arsenal (1945 BST)

Arsenal's recent defeat at QPR suggested they are still vulnerable to slipping up to relegation-threatened opposition.
Not this time.
They won't admit it but it is all over for Wolves and I think they are already preparing behind the scenes for life outside the Premier League.
Arsenal still have plenty of hard work ahead to secure a top-four finish but if they mess up at Molineux then they don't deserve to play in next season's Champions League.
Wolves cannot defend. Arsenal cannot stop scoring. That can only spell one outcome.
Prediction: 0-2

Wolves trio Jamie O'Hara, Stephen Hunt and Jody Craddock remain sidelined for Terry Connor's side as the Premier League's bottom side welcome in-form Arsenal to Molineux.

Sylvain Ebanks-Blake was preferred up front against Stoke City but Kevin Doyle may be in line for a return on Wednesday.

Richard Stearman could continue at centre-back, after moving inside to accomodate Ronald Zubar while Roger Johnson is likely to miss out again after Connor opted to replace the controversial centre-back with Karl Henry as the club's captain.

Arsenal will be sweating on the fitness of left-back Kieran Gibbs, who limped out of Sunday's win over Manchester City, and they are still without Jack Wilshere, Per Mertesacker (both ankle), Emmanuel Frimpong (knee), Francis Coquelin and Abou Diaby (both hamstring).

The Gunners will also be without centre-back Laurent Koscielny after the Frenchman picked up a suspension after he collected his 10th yellow card of the campaign against City.

Yossi Benayoun came in for the Gunners in their 1-0 victory over Roberto Mancini's sdie and Arsene Wenger is likely to stick with the 4-3-3 formation that won that game.

DID YOU KNOW?

Wolves have lost their last six games and are the Premier League's bottom side with 22 points from 32 games.

The hosts have conceded 70 goals so far this season - the most of any side in the Premier League.

Behind 11-goal Steven Fletcher, Wolves' second-highest league goalscorer is winger Matt Jarvis (pictured right), who has just five.

The Molineux outfit kept clean sheets in two of their first three Premier League games, on August 21 and 27, but have failed to keep any side out since then.

Wolves have yet to score a league goal in the first 10 minutes of a match.

Arsenal have won seven of their last eight matches.

The Gunners were held to a 1-1 draw at the Emirates Stadium by Wolves on December 27, Fletcher's equaliser canceling out an early Gervinho strike.

Robin van Persie has scored more goals in all competitions this season (36) than the entire Wolves squad has scored in the Premier League so far (34).

Arsenal have conceded five own goals in the league this term whilst Terry Connor's side have leaked just two.

The Gunners have not lost to Wolves in any competition since September 29 1979, when they were beaten 3-2 in the old Division One. There have been 18 meetings between the two clubs since. That 1-1 draw this season

I think it's one of those lazy assertions that he can't defend. Probably because he's brazillian.

He was great against city,

Syn
10-04-2012, 12:54 PM
Yeah, he can defend - as well as Sagna? Probably not, but he's not bad. I'd say he definitely has the edge over Gibbs.

Hard to tell in the Man City game because he was probably spent more time at CM than at LB, such was Arsenal's dominance in the game.

Santos sums up 'attack is the best form of defence'.

If his pressing and transformation into second striker midway through a game works, it helps us dominate. If it doesn't, then we're in trouble. We're usually in trouble through a few brain-dead moments anyway, so Santos going apeshit on the left is kind of welcome.

Santos looks like he needs a run of games to look competent. Or maybe that's just because he used to be quite fat. The Chelsea game was probably the funniest individual performance of the season. But yeah, hopefully now his fitness is better he will perform better from the off. He should have a few chances to be Ronaldinho tomorrow anyway.

If there's a lack of control/balance in midfield due to Ramsey's presence and with Santos going wherever he wants, this could be as insane as the Liverpool game last night.

The only teams Van Persie has not scored against are Manchester City, Fulham and, of course, Arsenal."Is it wrong for me to hope RVP scores an OG so he gets the record?

Evening. 0-2 up and they were down to 10 men early. After that, it's just been tippy tappy safe stuff.

Ramsey and Theo have been doing quite well. Theo the direct cause of both goals (took his very well). But nobody is having to play extremely well...it's all just comfortable, training session type stuff. Aside from a few nasty tackles, Wolves seem to have given up.

Dennis Bendtner

Might be worth tuning in for the 2nd half. If it continues like this then Wolves will go mental and have another couple sent off. Might cash in then. Otherwise we will carry on to play a little bit with the handbrake. Hope we don't stall.

Ramsey has been a bit shit. I like him but he's continuing his sloppy season.

Theo's looked good, especially in the first 20-25 mins. Think he might be letting the wolves fans get to him a bit (doesnt take a lot), but he's starting to fluff things a bit more. Still he'll be happy with his performance so far - has been looking to get in the right places and has been drifting left to right effectively.

That boy overthinks shit, and is not trusting his instinct ...if he has one. Problem is we have maybe just 3 players with a real incisive or killer instinct, and it doesn't help that HRIM and Verm are two of that three. Ox, and Jack have an edge as well though young and hopefully Theo one day snaps and decides to be a nasty and single minded ****.

on the result…
We started well and then had a situation where we could control the game. Did we push on or not? After that we played a bit with the handbrake on, they played deeper and defended like mad with a great spirit until the end of the game. If they keep that spirit then they still have a chance of staying in the league. On our part we controlled the game, although they actually had a spell in the second half where they created chances. Szczesny made a good save but after that it was a comfortable win.

on top-three situation…
I am very happy that we are in this position but I am also very cautious because some teams have been in that position before. We want to win our next game because where we have come from this season we must be focused. We have come from very deep and to stay in this position we have to focus on our next game.

on the penalty…
It looked to me [like a penalty] but I have not seen it again. You could argue that he is the last man as well. The referee had no choice but I think the punishment is harsh because you give away a penalty and you lose a man as well.

on spoiling the game…
It spoils the game for the supporters because they know they have little chance to come back after. I never forget that we lost Robin van Persie in Barcelona last season when he got a second yellow card for kicking the ball away. It was just strict application of the rules. Today I think the referee had no choice because it is the rule.

on Van Persie's finish…
It was a surprise to me because I have never seen him doing that. It was just what came into his mind at the last second he said.

on ending his four-game goal draught…
It is not easy for a striker like Van Persie who is not used to not scoring. I think he equalled the record of Ian Wright by scoring against 17 different teams in the Premier League out of 20. That is absolutely remarkable in the modern game so I would like to congratulate him because that has never been done before. When your striker scores against 17 different teams, that is sensational.

on possibility to improve on record…
He could have beaten it if he had scored against Manchester City. The last two chances he had were Man City and tonight. He hit the post twice and Vermaelen saved one on the line against City.

on the Wigan game…
Wigan did not deserve to lose at Chelsea and they got a great result tonight. It is a good warning for us to prepare well in that game.

on FA decision not to extend Balotelli ban…
I still don't understand. If you look at the case of Balotelli you get an explanation and you have to accept it. Then you look at the case of Derry, you get an explanation and you can accept it. But if you put the two together it looks absolutely unbelievable. When the referee has seen something nobody can get over the rule.

We need an exceptional committee of ethics who can get over that. The global situation does not make common sense. For people who love football you cannot accept that one is punished and the other is not. But I am not keen to get Balotelli suspended because I have no interest at all in that.
