IIRC Gijon beat Real at the Bernabeu last season

Put them to the sword tonight

And beat them at football as well

But yeah Ronaldo shouldnt play. You can just see Laporta calling up the ref for the Real game and telling him to book Ronaldo for something

I really don't know. I think he has won Perez over but that's always changeable if you don't go on to win something (or even if you do). I think it's possible Guardiola and Mourinho will keep schtum until the other makes the move away.

I think Mourinho might have felt like he has done something amazing to win the league but he might want to solidify it by getting the Champions League too.

I want him back in England even if he takes over at Chelsea or Man City or whoever. The club he manages gets stripped of their identity because everything just becomes 'The Mourinho Show', but you'd have to admit it makes it more interesting. You have someone like Mancini...nice guy and everything but it's nice to have someone who'll show Geoff Shreeves no respect.

The only reason Cesc gets games in this Barcelona team is because he's a catalan product. It's the only reason Guardiola went with Busquets over Yaya Toure. Guardiola wants to keep a core of Barca's youth players. I'm not saying Cesc doesn't have quality, but he does not add anything to Barcelona. If you put Nasri in his position, he would score once every two games too. If you put Arteta there, the same.

To establish himself as an elite player, Fabregas should've stayed at a club with more of a focus on power. Cesc is a power player - like Gerrard or Lampard. There's no shame in that, you can be a fantastic player.

Yeah, fair enough. I must admit I don't really take much notice of him because the attention is naturally drawn to what Xavi or Iniesta are going to do but I've heard quite a few people say that Busquets is actually the best in his position. Maybe a English bias again because we've Yaya Toure being brilliant here.

It's fair to say they'd be less potent without him. They'd be more like Spain, put it that way. He has become indescructible recently but they could do with David Villa to play some part in the last few games of the season. Messi surely can't win them a treble (or more likely a double) by himself.

And yeah, Benzema has had a brilliant season. Higuain has done pretty well too given his relative lack of starts.

Yeah well players should know better than to put their hands on Barcelona. What do they think is going to happen if they push both hands no matter how slight on to somebody's chest? A re-write of the rules is needed on how pelanties should be given but until then players need to be smarter.

Havent seen it.

Didnt have to.

Tello or..I don't know...they all look the same...went for the ball. There was contact - just strength from the defender, the Barca guy goes off balance and kicks him. And Barca get the penalty? Not having that.

Fair to say one man team?

If he doesnt score, no one else probably will

Whereas at Real, Ronaldo is the main man of course but if he doesnt score, theres Benzema, Higuain, Kaka etc

Best team in the world tbh

Lets hope Benzema and Higuain are on form next week because we all know, Ronaldo will go missing in in the classico like he has in the last few.

the biggest injustice this year would be in la liga if madrid did not end up winning that league title

defensively astute, powerful attack, quick on the counter and a togetherness about the squad they have not had in years.

if barca come back to nick the title it would be a catasrophe for modern football.

Yep, an awful lot of cheating has had to go into making the Barca brand. Their financing is the dodgiest of all. The playing field is almost tipped on its side in their favour - and Madrid's to be fair. Spain has a joke league, a vehicle for two teams. Would be like the FA cheating their arses off for two clubs over here - luckily they reserve themselves to cheating for just the one.

not sure what to make of this. the first time he's been under some real pressure and he walks away from a sinking ship... is this the end of barca? i think it could be.

he was the one who put the team together and made some big decisions like selling deco, henry, yaya etc, all the big ego's that previous managers didn't have the bottle to get rid of. he was also instrumental in barca's youth academy, both of which have ultimately helped the team flourish over the past 3 years.

all the players look up to him, i dont think another manager will get the best out of the players like he has done. good tactician too.

hopefully this means messi grows some balls to move away from barca at some point in his career now his idol is leaving, come to the premier league lad you know you want to.

Sevilla have a goal chalked off for no reason  Nice ball in my Reyes initially. We shouldve got a higher fee for him.

1-0 to real Madrid

Fantastic finish by Ronaldo. 43 in the league and 57 in all comps, apparently.

Sevilla miss 2 fantastic chances from counter attacks. Sometimes I think the 'lazy' view, that ronaldo, messi - and before Henry - are the only reason their sides weren't just #decent but not great sides, is the most accurate view. Their finishing makes all the difference.

Indirect freekick for Madrid, 8 yards out

Love those. Ronaldo smacks it against the post.
