First time watching Soccer Am for years! Peter Schmeichel is on. He should be a pundit/expert on Sky - impressed by his comments. Seems to be a bit of a ghel and a good sense of humour.

England is a major cop-out. They had a very comfortable first two-thirds of the season. Most games against good teams were at WHL. It's levelled out. Overhyped squad as well as particular individuals. I remember the stuff about them having two teams who could challenge for European football. They forgot their role but now know it well.

Precisely that. They've won the matches they were supposed to win, and they've lost the matches they were supposed to lose. They're about 5th best and - for my money - thats where they'll finish.

And of course, times like this you recognise the value of having a very good manager over a wideboy wheeler and fackin dealer.

Tottenham were five points off the top after thumping Newcastle 5-0 on 11 February, as well as having a 10-point advantage over Arsenal. They are now 23 points off the pace and six off the Gunners. Some serious questions to be asked at White Hart Lane in the summer.

You've got the admit there was either a breakdown of communication or simply incompetence on display yesterday with respect to Walcott. It was clear he pulled his hamstring, and yet he came back onto the field of play and aggravated it.

Yes, it was a mistake to let him back out there. Overall I don't believe a club at our level employs medical staff who are bumbling idiots though. Maybe I am overly optimistic but I'd rather be like that than take every opportunity to attack the club I support.

I don't want him sacked. I don't think he will be in charge next season though - unfortunately I've been saying that since September.

You're right the league is largely irrelevant. I wouldn't want another season like this. To quote someone like Merse, "the league is the bread and butter, the cups are a sideshow". It's the predictability of it which is worst though; dominate, hit post, lose. It's gone from being unlucky to just being not going enough.

I honestly remember the poor League form and the Cups equally, but I would say a large part of this perception is down to how god awful the FA Cup final was. It was a real war of attrition and I can't imagine anyone without an emotional investment in either us or Wednesday staying with it right to the final whistle.

Clearly, I was happy with the Cup wins, but the memories of the dirge we watched remained. That said, I wouldn't trade those wins for a slightly better league position!

Strangely enough, I am reading about just this very period in Merson's book, 'How Not to be a Professional Footballer'.

The mod thing? Nothing to read into that.
