Sagna in this form should really be dropped. Bringing in Rosicky to bolster and keep control of the midfield like we usually do against City would be useful. Podolski can be deadly in the final third but can also be a passenger if the play is too congested. An on-form Cazorla is needed for a good result.

It will most likely be another close game.

2-1. Zaha, Adrian, Villa o.g.

And Citeh used up all their flukery when they didn't get an aggregate hammering of 27-0 in the games they played against Real Madrid and Dortmund.

We always seem to play well against citeh, plus we're due a good performance after being nothing short of dire in our last two outings.

Theo is still playing for the window and what better way to attract the interest of the big clubs than to poach a couple against the champs.

Giroud hasn't scored from a header in a while and will more than likely get one over Kompany, who will not find it easy to cynically pull back/down an opponent of similar strength and stature.

We have Wenger, but he knows he won't be buying this window, so a win here is vital to his continued deluded thinking that he actually has a quality blend of players, good enough for that invaluable 4th place trophy.

Chelsea and Liverpool follow this game as well, we could find ourselves well off the pace in a few weeks if we don't start finding some consistency in our performances.

I'm not too concerned actually, we don't always win the big games but we normally put in the sort of performance that gives us a good chance. Unless it's United where we just get slaughtered either way.

Also Swansea had unsold their home allocation, considering they only have what a 22K all seater, we took around 5000 fans, so a small club from the Valleys could'nt even sell out a game that a few years ago would have been sold in a matter of hours, just proves that away teams and home fans no longer find playing against the once famous Arsenal as one of the highlights of the season.

Joker
09-01-2013, 09:24 AM
City haven't sold out their allocation because their fans are protesting at the prices they're being charged.

GP
09-01-2013, 09:30 AM
Well, their clubs owners are at least partly to blame.

Joker
09-01-2013, 09:37 AM
Perhaps so but our prices have been somewhat exorbitant for some time, even before City were taken over. In any case, their supporters aren't to blame for their owner's excessive spending, so I can understand their actions. We need to also take into account that City fans are in general low earners (there was a survey that found they were the poorest supporters out of all BPL clubs) so the fact that they are angered by our pricing is understandable.

We're not the only ones who charge expensive tickets (QPR are ridiculously expensive as well) so finger pointing at one club or another doesn't help matters. The authorities need to regulate ticket pricing so that they're not purely determined by free market forces.

GP
09-01-2013, 09:41 AM
Ticket prices are a direct consequence of player wages, so if the authorities need to regulate anything, it's the reckless spending by clubs such as City, Chelsea and others with Oligarch owners.

Joker
09-01-2013, 09:54 AM
Yes but our ticket prices were extremely high relative to other clubs even before the rise of the Oligarch owners. And if you're taking about wages spiraling out of control, no club has clean hands. After all we paid Sol Campbell £100K/week back in 2001.

And even if spending is regulated, that's just the first step. Arsenal can always charge high prices because, as a club in the South East of England there will always be quite a few affluent businessmen willing and able to fork out £60-70 for a ticket, and lower income supporters will still be priced out.

Niall_Quinn

It's fine to critisce our board. What isn't fine, is the ,media hammering us as if we only club doing it. City fans moaning about it even though they charged Southampton 50 quid each. The media love attacking us, and its stupid. I'm not saying our prices are right or fair, but the media seem to imply everyone else charges a fiver while we charge a billion quid. It's pathetic.

No.1 Every club feels like the media is against them. In our case, its not true just like how its not true about any other clubs.

No.2 If we won or played good football n challenged for trophies, those prices make sense. We play a boring brand of football, dont win, sell our best players yet charge as if we are Barcelona or Utd. On evidence of the shower of shite we witness, even a fiver is a lot to charge!

Not bothered he's out, let's be honest all he does is pass the ball sideways or backwards, not a true midfield general that can change games or is a box to box player. Song was perfect for that postion, used to protect the defence and then bomb forward with assists or goals. We do miss him badly.

How do you know how much they charge out of interest?

Anyhow yes it's still a lot but less than us, moreover they are the Champions so that gives them a bit more of a case to be honest, premium for watching the PL winners I guess.
