talkSPORT can exclusively reveal Sam Allardyce will be named as West Ham manager tonight.
The former Bolton (http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-news/football/clubs/t30/bolton-wanderers), Newcastle and Blackburn (http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-news/football/clubs/t5/blackburn-rovers) boss revealed over the weekend that he was in line to replace Avram Grant at Upton Park following their relegation from the Premier League.
But despite it originally being claimed that Allardyce would not take over until after a family holiday that has now been moved forward to tonight.
Allardyce has been out of work since leaving Blackburn in December 2010 and was originally linked with the Hammers (http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-news/football/clubs/t21/west-ham-united) in January, and has now beaten candidates including Kevin Keen (http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-news/term/kevin-keen), Chris Hughton and Dave Jones to the Upton Park hotseat.

VALON BEHRAMI insists he would not want to play under Sam Allardyce at West Ham and says club's demise began the day they sacked Gianfranco Zola.

Hammers co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold this week hired Allardyce as boss following the Londoners' relegation from the Premier League.
Some West Ham fans have expressed concern about the brand of football adopted by Allardyce at his previous clubs and Behrami, who left Upton Park for Fiorentina in January, could only agree with the fans' fears.
The Switzerland international said: "I don't like to play that way.
"I like to play like Zola wants to play, every time with the ball, every time trying to be attractive as well."
Allardyce succeeded Avram Grant, who in turn took over from Zola after the Italian was sacked last summer despite managing to avoid the drop.
Behrami said: "They sacked him for no reason.
"We'd had a difficult season but we secured safety two or three games before the end of the season, even though we'd had a lot of difficult situations with the club and the takeover.
"All the team was with him. We felt that, with him as manager, we could improve. I know that is how I felt.
"So the players were very, very sad when they sacked him and the first day with the new manager was difficult to accept."
Grant never managed to win over Behrami.
He said: "It was a time when he had to change something, he had to bring something new. But he didn't give a thing.
"We tried to do a good job but what the players needed was a reaction.
"We needed something new and we didn't feel that we got it. We felt that the situation was the same, going down."

WEST HAM boss Sam Allardyce insists he can guide the club back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Allardyce was officially unveiled by the Hammers today after succeeding Avram Grant following the club's relegation to the Championship.
And the former Bolton and Blackburn manager acknowledged promotion is all the more crucial with the club set to move into the Olympic Stadium after next year's Games.
He said: "I want to achieve the ultimate, which is to get promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
"As difficult as that is going to be, i think it can be achieved.
"And with a club the size of West Ham that needs to be done as soon as possible.
"The long-term goal is the Olympic Stadium and the team must be back in the Premier League when it is going to move into that great venue."
Speculation over the future of the club's high earners continues to rumble on following relegation.
But Allardyce revealed the likes of England internationals Robert Green, Carlton Cole and Scott Parker have not been the subject of any formal bids.
He said: "The speculation is around Green, Cole and Parker, but at the moment we haven't had any concrete bids for those players.
"Other than that there is no rush to sell anyone else.
"We will probably look at moving some of the players on because their desire is to play in Premier League.
"From a financial point of view, it suits us to lose that financial commitment because the drastic loss in revenue is what we all have to face at West Ham.
"It certainly suits the owners, who've got to really back up with their own money to help us try to get back in the Premier League.
"We will try and get as good a squad as we can. There's some very good players at the club.
"If we all want to work together and go in the right direction, we can give it our best shot and hopefully that will be enough next season."
Allardyce has also rubbished the theory that his brand of football may not be the "West Ham way".
He added: "When did West Ham play the West Ham way?
"It can't be the West Ham way if you get relegated and the club's been up and down like a yo-yo.
"I don't think the fans see that as playing the West Ham way.
"The West Ham way is about winning football matches and the enjoyment of winning.
"The fans are in the game to watch winning football, I'm in the game to play winning football and entertain the public — and that's what I do.
"Everywhere I've been I entertain the public, irrespective of the perception from the media that Sam Allardyce plays long ball.
"That is only a perception but most of football is run on perception today."

They've got Almunia on an emergency loan, shame, they were doing quite well too.

From Arsenal.com

Spanish goalkeeper Manuel Almunia has joined Championship side West Ham United in a one-month emergency loan deal.

The 34-year-old stopper has found his first-team opportunities at Emirates Stadium limited in recent months, due to a combination of injury and the excellent form of Wojciech Szczesny.

Last season was Almunia’s seventh as an Arsenal player and despite making just 14 appearances during the campaign, he left no doubt as to his ability when called upon.

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce says the club could grow to the size of Manchester United or Arsenal if they move to the Olympic Stadium.
The Hammers want to take over the 80,000-capacity venue after the Paralympic Games end next month.
And Allardyce claims it could see West Ham rival Old Trafford and Emirates Stadium for size and atmosphere.
"We could be that size in a brand new stadium, with that atmosphere," he said.
West Ham are one of four bidders under consideration for the Olympic Stadium. An original deal for the club to lease the £486m stadium was scrapped last year amid legal wrangling.
Allardyce added: "It would be awesome to walk a team out on that pitch and say 'this is West Ham's new home and the creation of what could possibly be a new modern history hopefully'."
Upton Park, which has a 35,000 capacity, has been West Ham's home for the past 108 years.
Meanwhile, Allardyce says West Ham's move for winger Matt Jarvis is "stuck" as they have yet to agree a deal with Wolves.
Allardyce wants Jarvis for his team's new Premier League campaign, but Allardyce has written off signing the 26-year-old before Saturday's opening game with Aston Villa.
"For me, it is on the backburner because Saturday is the most important thing," said Allardyce.
"Then if it is to be done after Saturday we'll see where we are."
While Allardyce hopes to push through a deal for Jarvis, West Ham have all but conceded defeat in their attempt to sign Liverpool striker Andy Carroll.
The Hammers made an audacious bid to prise the £35m England international from Anfield.
But Allardyce revealed: "We never agreed with Liverpool any deal to be able to speak to Andy Carroll to see if he would join us.
"Whatever deal we put forward to Liverpool was not agreed by Liverpool.
"He would have been a massive signing for us and, like everything else, when you see an opportunity you try to go for it."

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce has taken three defenders on trial with a view to strengthening the Hammers' back line.

Unattached trio John Mensah, Mikael Silvestre and Anthony Vanden Borre are all available on free transfers after leaving Lyon, Werder Bremen and Genk, respectively, in the summer.

All three have Premier League and international experience and their unattached status allows them to be signed after the official transfer deadline.

However, Allardyce stressed that he will reserve judgement on each of them until after he has had a chance to see them in training.

"They have been training with us but there is no decision on whether we will be pursuing their services or not at this moment in time," the Hammers boss told Sky Sports.

The Irons added George McCartney and James Collins to their defence this summer, after letting Abdoulaye Faye and Julien Faubert go from their promotion-winning team.

£18m ...

:haha:

But for £5m , he's not that bad of a signing for Fat Sam and Co
Reckon he'll do well there.

Big Sam has changed opinion around about him and his style of football and Downing is another example of that.

Good luck to him
