I hope so too, but I'm a little concerned that United have refused to comment. If they were still fully behind him and in it for the long haul as they have been keen on highlighting, you would expect them to have quashed it fairly quickly.

Lets face facts - the Moyes sacking has been only a question of when rather than if for the entire season (we outdid ourselves by only taking a point from them over 2 games, TBH). Believe me - the absence of Moyes next season will be a small factor against Citeh and Chavs improving and Liverpool consolidating. It was THIS season that we should have capitalised on our rivals' weaknesses.

Marc Overmars
21-04-2014, 05:40 PM
He has to be sacked really. The defence seems to resolve around "giving him time", but he's pretty much displayed no signs of a plan or philosophy for the team. Rooney doesn't give a fuck anymore either, he knows he's set for the rest of his career now. He should have been sold and that would have been a pretty good statement from Moyes to make from the off.

TBH - I think that the big surprise is how long Manure have ridden with Moyes, despite almost not having had a single sign that he is anything other than out of his depth. TBH the Moyes Manure episode is up there with the most fucked up things ever to happen in the EPL.

This was always the fear.

That he'd be so out of his depth, too out of his depth that their board couldn't sit idly by and let him have another season. Let alone tasking him with rebuilding a squad.

As it is, I guess we have to hope they appoint someone based on name and status rather than someone proven or exciting. And maybe that the squad rebuild is equally as destructive as Ferguson leaving, that the WC impacts on their ability to sign the names they want, or the Glazers really don't have the money available, or Old Trafford sinks back into the dirt. Something, anything so they don't stop the rot.

If, by the grace of god, they did stick with him in some misplaced sense of loyalty, Redcafe will undoubtedly explode, Glazers Out, Green and Yellow. It'd be wonderful.

Niall_Quinn
21-04-2014, 06:26 PM
Shows how the game has changed. Ferguson was no better when he first arrived at Utd. Now the money is more important than the sport and Utd have a brand and merchandising deals to protect (mostly overseas). So teams don't get built over time now, they spring into being courtesy of a chequebook. Which deprives the fans too, not only do they have to shell out a whole lot more but they don't grow up with a team now, they grow up with a seat from which they can watch a parade of mercenaries go by. Moyes inherited Fergie's mess but he mustn't have the same character and strength as the latter because he couldn't wring the same set of results out. Maybe that's where Fergie went wrong, the Scottish, tea thrown in the face as a sign of love, hard as nails boy growing up in a shit hole - tough enough to boot the darlings to the results that are expected. Didn't work out that way. Moyes could have probably stabilised things and shaped his own team and started getting a few results given 2-3 seasons. It's not the modern way though.

Moyes 'free season' was always going to be founded upon a bare minimum of finishing in the top 4 in all likelihood. That is mathematically impossible now isn't it? Or so I heard the other day so his sacking was always a strong probability whilst top 4 looked a pipe dream.

Wenger would never take over there though....

Come of it. Even though it's been a bad year and he's proven himself incapable of taking the pressure of a big job he's still a decent manager as evidenced by his record at Everton. That's not going to go away.

I think he'll easily be able to get a semi big team role. The Villa and Newcastle jobs may open up in the summer and he'll be considered for them.

^ Just looked it up again, and seems Van Cunt was a cunt. He apparently kept taking the piss out of Ramsey/Feo too

Gallas, fed up with shouldering the blame for a variety of issues at the club, also revealed there was fighting in the Gunners dressing room during the club's 4-4 draw at home to Spurs last month.

He said: "There was a problem at halftime. The only thing that I could say at halftime was 'Guys, we resolve these problems after the match, not at halftime.'"

Claiming the incident was not the only time Arsenal stars have clashed, Gallas also insisted players have been moaning to him about 25-year-old Van Persie.

He added: "When, as captain, some players come up to you and talk to you about a player, complaining about him, and then during the match you speak to this player and the player in question insults us there comes a time where we can no longer comprehend how this can happen."

The blast from the Frenchman has come in response to widespread criticism of his captaincy. But Gallas said: "I am trying to defend myself a bit without giving names. Otherwise I'm taking it all (the blame).

"It's very frustrating. I'm 31, the player is six years younger than me."

I reckon, he'll probably be able to get them challenging or top four at least though with his ego he certainly won't be lasting more than three years max before he has a public falling out with someone (probably Ferguson) and is shown the door.

Can't see him performing miracles with Utd's piss poor squad either and winning the league.

Mind you, he's probably exactly what Utd need right now, someone to stop the decline, install discipline and order and keep them in the running before a true long term solution like Klopp or Simeone becomes available. So in that sense it's probably a good appointment for them.

The thing that puzzles me with LVG is he seems to have been credited by the English media and Man U fans with playing amazing football and creating the Ajax and Barca blueprints. But wasn't that Cruyff's work??

I seem to remember in Bergkamp's book that everyone at Ajax hated LVG's style of play and Cruyff and LVG were total opposites in how they thought the game should be played?

Be interesting to see how he deals with Rooney. His agent was genius in getting him that mega contract as Man U won't be able to get him out of the club now. For me RVC is a million times better and you can't play 442 these days so Rooney's benched.

Van Gaal also deflected blame away from himself for Netherlands getting knocked out by saying two players refused to take penalties. Seems like the sort of manager that will get his club to ride high on momentum but could potential cause chaos when things start to go wrong.

That said Man Utd will probably be up there this year. No European commitments is a massive advantage for them in the league. And if they land one of the big players they're after like Vidal then they'll have a good chance.

Agree with all that. He's already bitching about Man Utd's heavy commercial schedule and how that's impacted his preparations for the new season ......... well durrrr.

He'll stabilise them and bring back champions league football (hopefully not at our expense) especially considering as you point out their absence of European football (really wish they got Europa tbh). But I can't see him lasting more than 2/3 years before he has a massive falling out with someone and is forced out. It won't be helped by Ferguson continually lingering at matches sitting in the stands and most likely still having an unhealthy level of influence at the club.

Mind you a temporary stop gap is probably what United need at the moment to stop the bleeding after the failure of Moyes and to wait until a long term target like Klopp or Pep becomes available. One, maybe two seasons without CL football isn't terrible but several successive seasons would kill them.

I really don't know anymore, in all seriousness.

The league is really unpredictable. I would still have had Utd in the top 4 in last years predictions, even though I thought they'd drop away slightly. And look what happened.

The only thing stopping us from sustaining a proper challenge (IMO) for the title, is Wenger. Can he get a team to start performing in every match, not just 75% of the time, and against the big boys. The players are good enough. Is their preparation? I dunno.

Liverpool should piss off out of it again. I think City will hover about, but not be anything special. Chelsea (unfortunately) will be the frontrunners I think.

Given your players v our players, and our manager v your manager. We win on players, you probably win on cuntishness ability to get something without it being joyful in any way.

On paper, I prefer our squad over Man U's, but at the same time we have a terrible habit of having long-term injuries. I think it all boils down to if LVG takes charge of the dressing room and if we can prevent half our team getting wiped out by a squirrel in the face.

Not surprised, he always gives a captain's performance and considering how long and distinguished his career has been, was always the obvious choice.

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes believes his old club could be spiralling towards obscurity after more than two decades of Premier League domination.
United began the season with a 2-1 home defeat by Swansea on Saturday, continuing their disastrous form of the 2013-14 campaign under new manager Louis van Gaal.

Agree with him, for once. Moyes followed by van Fraud is never going to do you any favours. Also building your team around Rooney, the biggest and most expensive fraud in PL history, is not going to help. Van CashMachine's injury record should seal the deal. They won't be able to sign five world class players, no CL, an already stupidly inflated wage bill plus yanks who are in it for the profit will prevent that. So no CL next year either and that will be that.

Edward Woodward was in 2005 a banker at JP Morgan and a senior architect of the Glazers’ debt-loading takeover, including the high-interest £265m “payments in kind” loaned by hedge funds, which has cost United so far that scarcely believable £700m.

BIG FIVE SQUAD TRANSFER FEES

Manchester United £401.2m
Manchester City £344.15m
Chelsea £341.8m
Liverpool £245.8m
Arsenal £209.5m

Media claiming Utd's squad is most expensive ever assembled. True if taken as a snapshot, but the chavs have blown an extra half bill to get to where they are (not including millions on manager pay-offs). Gypos must have blown a good few quid on top too. But £400mill for that Utd squad is a pretty big joke.

Some interesting stuff going on with Utd fans. Seems to me the "Utd Way" is slowly becoming an item of scorn among the majority, whereas before it was viewed as the icing on the cake throughout the years of success. Winning without having to do a chavski. But one season out of the top 4 and fans who are expressing their concern about the money first, last and always approach are getting ripped to shreds. Fuck all that shit it only got us 7th, spend, spend, spend, it's the modern way - seems to be the new consensus.

To put things in context, if the spuds got a crook with billions in and they bought their way out of our shadow, would we be the same in demanding an instant money solution and fuck all that other shit, financial stability, giving youth a chance, etc, etc? I bet most of us would actually.

Don't care what team buys who, the players today aren't fit to lace the boots of the players who took to the pitch behind Vieira and Keane in those monster tussles. Your guts would churn all the way through those matches. What's the chance of ever seeing competition like that again?

United's new attacking line-up: for me, it'll be RVP and Falcao every time. And though there's lots of talk about him playing in the hole behind that front two, I think that'd be a huge mistake - why would you have Rooney there when Juan Mata or Angel Di Maria would do the job so much better?'

Sadly I don't think it matters much. It's still a profit thanks to their huge revenue streams driven by their gigantic combined commercial deals which automatically makes it better than most of the clubs in the PL who make a loss. This isn't factoring in their new whopping 75 million a year Addidas deal either. The money they've lost from no CL has become not that significant compared to the rest of their revenues.

The difference between Liverpool in the 90's when they went through their decline and United now is that Liverpool never had access to the same money pool that United now possess.

Unfortunately they're still a juggernaut that will still be around challenging for a while simply because of their size of their fanbase and the money they have. Only way to take them out would be if they miss out on CL football for several years in a row and their fairweather fans start jumping ship leading to some of the sponsers not renewing deals and (hopefully) exerting clauses in their deals for early termination.

In all fairness, even though I laughed my fucking head of at it, the first penalty that Leciester received was a joke. I would be livid if that happened to us. Clear foul on Raphael which was much worse than the contact he had on Vardy which he exaggerated.

Clattenberg is usually one of the best refs in the league so you can just chalk that up to an unfortunate error.

They'll still beat us home and away though <_<

It all comes down to Wenger.

With their defence we certainly can do them but it does require us to be a lot more tactically flexible and prepare a plan to deal with their immense attacking threat.

If we do our usual thing of being open and leaving the defending to Arteta and our defenders, I shudder to think of the damage that the likes of Di Maria and Falcao can do. It's about time we finally beat them anyway.

We're usually on the receiving end of those fateful football inevitabilities when they crop up. Stuff like Lumpard scoring against the chavs. The games against Utd are set up for Welbeck to get the winner on both occasions and drive the Utd lot into a frenzy of recrimination. Wait and see. We've done the van Cash scoring against us thing, now it's our turn.

I've got to say I am loving watching United struggle, music to my ears. I think they will come good eventually once the sort out the inbalances in their team/squad. It will probably take another 100million for them to get their but that's the way of the world....

I wouldn't write them off for top 3 or top 4 this season, they look devasting going forward and will cause any team in the league big problems, it's just their defence...

Syn
23-09-2014, 03:11 PM
^Ditto. Although I don't think they need a £100m to get it sorted. They just need to buy 3 central defenders. We got Mertesacker, Koscielny and Chambers combined for around £32m. Their other players would be fine if the manager doesn't try these weird championship manager formations. At least start with a back 4 and go from there.

Another red flag with captain Rooney screaming at the team off after Leicester's 2nd goal and no-one around him paying any attention.

I am invisible
23-09-2014, 03:46 PM
If they've got the money, then why not? I really don't think £100m is anything to Man U any more, and I can see their annual transfer spend starting to dwarf Chelsea's and City's once those Chevrolet and Adidas deals really kick in...

Louis van Gaal has admitted that his Manchester United squad are struggling to get to grips with his ideas.

The Dutchman has presided over the club's worst Premier League start, with United going into Saturday's meeting with West Ham having collected just five points from five matches.

"We give [the players] a lot of information," Van Gaal said.

"There shall be a moment in the season that this information is not too much. At this moment maybe it is too much."

Since taking charge on 16 July, Van Gaal has experimented with different formations and made several alterations at the club's training ground in an attempt to implement his "philosophy".

The former Ajax, Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach is adamant that the club will benefit but has conceded that he may have pushed his players too far, too soon.

"You have to work out that information," said the United manager, who acknowledged that fans are already "very tired" of hearing his pleas for patience.

"It's very difficult because we are starting with a new team and a new relationship between players so that's why it needs time."

Van Gaal revealed United have only one senior centre-back available for Saturday's game.

That means Marcos Rojo could be partnered by either Tom Thorpe, 21, or Paddy McNair, 19, neither of whom have appeared for the first team.

LOL - Durham you stupid shit. Rooney can laugh in the "haters" faces if he leads England to glory in 2016 :haha: Seriously? How many times are they going to roll that one out before each fresh humiliation?

Ozil though, you know, the World Cup winner.

Özil ended the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification campaign as Germany's top scorer with eight goals. At the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Özil scored the decisive goal in the 119th minute of Germany's 2–1 round of 16 defeat of Algeria. In the 2014 FIFA World Cup Final, Özil was replaced by Arsenal teammate Per Mertesacker after 120 minutes with two added minutes remaining. Germany won the game 1–0. He finished the competition with 15 chances created; the most of any German player.

Enough to laugh at the haters? Like Durham, for instance?

But for Wayne Rooney to lead England to European Championship glory would surely shut his critics up.

What's good for the goose.

The fact the question has to be asked shows how biased the pundits and hacks are when talking about Shrek and his antics. Rooney is 100% a cheat, one of the biggest cheats in sport. He's been doing it for years.
