As none of you may know, Queens of the Stone Age are playing at an otherwise dismal Glasto 11.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/zanelowe/queensofthestoneage/index.shtml

The above is a link to vote for your favourite of their songs. They'll play the top 10 voted for at the festival.

I picked Go With the Flow because it sexified Reading 2008.

you are very funny, because there were no Kings (or emperors or queens) in the ice age and also because era means a historical time period. i got all the ice age films for christmas in a box set. i got a free fridge magnet with it. i put it on the side of the microwave though.

Thinking about getting into Wu-Tang Clan and Biffy Clyro in the short space between now and Glasto.

Biffy Clyro.

I'd vote for a top 10 of QOTSA and all but the BBC will just cherry pick the best known ones.

It's pretty sexy. Dunno if he still does it, but he used to swap with Taylor for a bit in the past few years.

Beyonce's headlining Glastonbury this year, no? Don't like her new song but she has an impressive back catalog, quite a scalp for a small gig.

Yeah definetely Go With The Flow. Its my favourite of their songs (although there are a lot of others that come close to it).

I'm gonna see Jimmy, yeah.

I picked Go With the Flow because setlist.fm says they haven't been playing it in their recent gigs, so I was worried it needed to be voted for. However, thinking about it, it's easily one of the top 10 most popular in the UK so I should've used my vote for something less popular.

I'll vote again at work.

Jimmy are at Reading too :d

Dunno why I'm going to it....mainly Muse and Pulp I guess...Frank Turner's there again, also Jane's addiction might be a better headliner to watch than The strokes <_<

So what's so bad about Biffy? I've only just started listening to them really, but they seem okay. There's a lot of indie shit out there. I've listened to about half a dozen bands I thought might be promising. Most of them are described as "indie" by wikipedia and they're all shit. They're so bland and boring and the singers sound like the guy from The Bravery with the same echo-y effect of The Killers.

I'm looking forward to seeing The King Blues again though.

McNamara That Ghost...
02-06-2011, 05:54 PM
They talk bollocks, try to be interesting with some random off-shoots in a song and basically aren't. Plus they destroyed 'Buddy Holly' so for that they should be annihilated.

V-Pig
02-06-2011, 06:01 PM
Oh yeah, I think I heard that cover and was disappointed.

I don't much admire them for their music integrity or intelligence, but I've been listening to bland indie and at least they have some vague balls.

McNamara That Ghost...
02-06-2011, 06:25 PM
Why were you listening to bland indie? :ninja:

To try and find something worth seeing on the main stages of Glasto. Might have to go to the same stages that host The King Blues though, try and see some punk/ska/alt-type bands.

V-Pig
02-06-2011, 08:45 PM
There is so much dross out there. It's depressing as a motherfucker. They all have the same boring, distorted voice, but no distortion on their guitars. Why does no one try and sound like Black Sabbath any more? Except Wolfmother, but they couldn't do the solos.

On the other hand, just got 72 lagers, a bottle of whisky and suncream delivered.

The founder of Glastonbury Festival, Michael Eavis, has said booking the Wombles was "a bit of a mistake".
He said: "I've got about 25 stages and managers and bookers for each of the stages. I can't control every single one of them but I do get cross about that kind of thing."

Oi, mush, and if the crowd tries to bottle them off stage the wee furry funsters will just pick them up for recycling...the more that are thrown the longer they'll stay on...

Think this is more your sort of festival...

Seen him a couple of times, once at the O2 a couple of years back and the other time 2 years ago in Hyde Park, same year he played Glasto.

He was all kinds of awesome, won't he going to the IoW as

b) The rest of the lineup both sucks and blows.

Pearl Jam, Tom Petty, The Darkness. I've seen worse, tbf... At least there's a bit of variety. Don't think I'll get to a festival this year, since I started my job in Feb so all the good annual leave was already taken. Now THAT both sucks and blows.
