3 years ago we got to the Carling Cup final and ended up losing. It led to a downward spiral that took years to rectify. On 17th May 2014 we have a chance to finally lift ourselves out of gloom by ending our trophy drought.

Can this act as a springboard for success? Will a win mark a new beginning? Will it be the point where players achieve a winning mentality?

I'd hate to think what a loss would do. COME ON YOU GUNNERS!

Our last cup win pretty much marked the end of an era, not the start. Spending £100mill in the summer on quality players will act as a springboard for success. This cup is a nice day out at the end of the season. Hull are really crap. The only way we could lose to them is by one of those what if, screw up moments like the CL final where we lose a man or if Phil Dowd is the ref. I hope we win it with some style. A ground out borefest 1-0 win would be awful. If we're going to make a statement for next season then let's do it properly.

Losing doesn't even bare thinking about, it would crush us mentally considering we'd have to dwell on it for the whole summer.

We should win it because we're streets ahead of them, but of course it's all about turning up on the day which is far from a guarantee with us.

Nervous.

If we lost, it's not just the cup, we'd have lost to a club called the New York Hull City Tiger Yankee Thunderbolts. That would be as embarrassing as it gets.

Mainly due to a shambles of ticketing allocation, where the FA 'gave out' like 20,000 to touts and corporates for the money.

There's no way we're losing this.

Hull are awlful.

And we're pretty good again.

They'll probably carve out less chances than Wigan.

Which was barely one.

If we don't have a mental block again, this should be about 0-3.

Cup finals are as a general rule shit

I can think of maybe one or two decent finals in my living memory.

Even when the two teams are mismatched there is a cagey ness about the games because neither side wants to lose.

This final wont buck that trend

Hull will stick 11 men behind the ball and play for time, either to take one chance from a set piece opportunity or play for the lottery of penalties.

I think this game will be largely similar to our cup final against Southampton, scrappy affair...and decided by one goal. I think we will score in the second half look to push on for a seco d but lose confidence and pull back and Hull will be camped in our final third for the last ten minutes, and whilst jubilant when the final whistle goals frankly we will be glad it's all over.

Goalscorer?....Hmm Ozil, it seems somehow appropriate that our most expensive signing ends the trophy drought

If you look at the 2 teams and form then we should win this comfortably. However, its a cup final and form will not count for anything. They are missing their 2 decent players whom where available when we beat them 3-0 a few weeks ago.

We really just need to turn up and perform, i cant see us losing this especially since whats happended before in cup finals. The players should be up for it and confident. It all points to an Arsenal win.

Realistically it will be cagey unless we score early. Hull dont have the players to trouble us if we apply ourselves on the game. No new injuries going into the game and the players should be realtively fresh.

As for the team, i'm not sure who will start in goal but the rest of the team will probably be
Sagna, Kos, Mert, Gibbs, Ramsey, Arteta, Ozil, Carzorla, Giroud, Podolski.

Bench will be quite strong with Ox, Wilshere and Rosicky to call on if needed.

this could be 3-0 or a cagey 1-0 win.

Yes we beat them recently and they are a bit shit but cup finals are very different to league games and there are no "rea;" underdogs.

Birmingham beat us in the 2011 CC final when most of us thought we'd walk it, Wigan beat City last year after they were relegated and Bradford/Bburn did us last season too so im not counting my chickens just yet.

9 times out of 10 we'll always beat Hull, just like we would with Birmingham. It's just about whether we turn up on the day. None of this cagey shit which leaves us prone to a fluke or shit refereeing. We're much better than them and we need to play with confidence and not give them a sniff.

I think there's a bit more about this lot this time.
People will say we bottled it this year but that's a lazy argument. We were never going to win the league without a really top class striker, IMO we just ran out of steam and key injuries took their toll - every time I see Ramsey now I think what might have been although I still don't think it would have been quite enough.
We've looked much better since he came back, Hull are awlful. I think we'll be OK.

Selassie my friend . Chelsea took 50 years to win their first title . Manchester city took 44 . Why can't we take 9 years ? Believe me this is our first one after a long nine years wait . It is the first of the many more to come . It will be a bit nervous because of the given circumstances : Its a Final , 9 years drought ,etc..
But there is no chance for us to fuck it up .We got some players we can trust : Ozil is a world class and will create chances and trouble them . Kallstrom is a winner , cool head guy . Ramsey is a bee sting .He will bite them anytime . BFG is everything we need . And also , this is the kind of game Giroud loves to score at set pieces . We will get loads of corners and free kicks . I just forgot about Podolski the finisher . We will win this and win well .
What about Carzola ? Rosicky ? Flamini ? Koscielny ?
If you remember all the games we fucked up was because we didn't take them seriously . Vs chelsea we played our 2nd against Chelsea 1st team . Vs Birmingham it was quite the same and our best player RVC was injured .

Arsenal or Hull to be presented with brand new FA Cup

The winners of 2013-14 FA Cup with Budweiser will lift a brand new trophy at Wembley this weekend – only the third edition of the world’s most famous domestic Cup.

The 2014 trophy will replace the 1992 edition, which in turn replaced the first iteration of the current design in 1911.

Well to be on the safe side we are making arrangements for you to be placed in a lead lined box for two hours so you can't jinx us.

On a slightly friendlier note are you a naturalised Brit who ended up in the states or are you an American who got into "soccer" as they sickeningly call it.

I am neither actually. I'm a Bangladeshi citizen, born and brought up in UAE (you dont get citizenship by birth in the Arab countries), who now lives in the states for 12 years. I have been a huge football lover since I was born and I actually played under-17 for a couple of clubs in Dubai. My love for Arsenal started in the early 90s, as my family would take vacations to the UK often. I love London and I visit it very often and the fact that I get to watch Arsenal (Thanks Gary and everyone :mwah:), makes me love it even more. In fact, once my MBA is done, I plan to move to London!

So pretty much trying to make sure that we are relegated in the next 3-4 years!

ITV World Cup viewers may have to put up with advert breaks during matches after broadcasters were given the chance to cash in on the mid-half water break.

Three-minute breaks after 30 minutes of each half will be implemented if the temperature is forecast to be above 32 degrees at kick-off.

And the Daily Mirror reports that adverts are set to be screened during this break which will likely infuriate football fans.

I fucking hate ITV. Somebody needs to shoot Adrien in the face. And what the heck is Sherwood doing on the show!

Not sure if I can get him in the face from here, but I'll take a few pot shots.

Hull are going to get slaughtered, pillaged, battered and maimed.

And beaten at the footy, too.

Shame GHELkers is not even involved on the bench. No fucking early injuries please. We always get one in big games.

Sagan can leave a legend if he lands a two-footer on Chiles' face at full-time.

Too right Keane, as a great man once said: "Let's not just go along for the sing-song now and again."
