Britain's Andy Murray has been drawn against world number 56 Daniel Gimeno-Traver in the first round of Wimbledon.

Defending champion Rafael Nadal will open play on Centre Court on Monday against American Michael Russell.

John Isner will play Nicolas Mahut in a repeat of last year's record-breaking 11-hour match.

In the women's draw, top seed Caroline Wozniacki plays Arantxa Parra Santonja and reigning champion Serena Williams faces Aravane Rezai.

Serena and Venus Williams, winners between them of nine of the last 11 Wimbledon titles, have been drawn in opposite halves, setting up the possibility of a fifth final between the siblings.

Murray should have few problems with Gimeno-Traver, having beaten him in straight sets on hard court in Valencia two years ago, as well as on clay in a Futures tournament in 2005.

Gimeno-Traver, 25, lists clay as his favourite surface and has won just one match in two previous appearances at the All England Club.

British number two James Ward, a semi-finalist at Queen's Club last week, faces a tough opener against France's 19th seed Michael Llodra, while fellow wildcards Dan Cox and Dan Evans take on Sergiy Stakhovsky and Florian Mayer respectively.

Among the women, British number one Elena Baltacha has been drawn against a qualifier, while Heather Watson meets France's Mathilde Johnansson, Laura Robson plays German Angelique Kerber, and there is an all-British clash between Anne Keothavong and Naomi Broady.

Federer and Serena (I hope I am horribly wrong of the latter). I'd say Djokovic but I don't have the foggiest about how he'll be on grass, probably awesome if this season is anything to go by.

Whose side of the draw is Del Potro on, Djokovic's or Nadal's?

I will accept nothing less than 100-98 in the fifth for Isner - Mahut :sulk:

Centre court matches should be fine though.

They might have a fair bit of waiting around to do mind. Seeds through into the second round, but having to hang on for a few days to see which Bogdanovic-follower can squeeze through out there on Court 13. So I don't think this will necessarily cut down on us going back to Barker every so often to show us 'some tennis off tape' with the big 'R' in the corner.

McNamara That Ghost...
18-06-2011, 11:54 AM
If there are long delays they will move some matches to Centre Court. Not that a Bogdanovic type player will attract a big crowd.

Henman is Captain Obvious. I know a lot of commentators do that but Henman consistently does it.
Henman is as consistently boring as 95% of commentators. He's not annoying though and doesn't love the sound of his own voice. Which makes him fine in my book.

I don't have a problem with any tennis commentators really (apart from Castle, who is just awful) and they are infinitely better than anyone in football by virtue of being able to construct full sentences. McEnroe being treated like a demi-god and oracle can be nauseating, especially as he speaks exclusively in Americanisms and has a few stock phrases he repeats over the Wimbledn fortnight. Never mind him also not knowing much about players outside the top ten. Of the big-name ex-players, Becker and Cash are probably the most interesting. Becker has a strange way of phrasing things at times, but it makes him and his attempts at jokes quite endearing. Sam Smith seems to be the one with the best knowledge of the game and is enthusiastic about even the less important matches. Mark Petchey is quite good too. Old timers like Barry Davies and David Mercer are always fine of course.

Cripps_orig

McEnroe is awesome when talking about other sports.
