Theo Song Wilshere Nasri

RVP Chamakh

No new signing will play in this mainly cos we wont have any

If it's more of the same then the fans will very quickly turn against Wenger. We need at the very least 3 new players who can slot into the first XI if we harbour hopes of winning the league.

Tiote tbh.

He is a Must Get.

That one fluke he scored against us is still more than Scott Parker will ever acheive in the game.

Plus he's pretty good otherwise too.

Parker was player of the season in one of the 920345435734987 awards at the end of the season.

Id say thats better than scoring a fluke tbh.

Parker>Titswhatever tbh

Anyway Demba Ba Black Sheep will probably play for Newcastle in this and hes pretty good. He'll score

On Thursday afternoon, Arsčne Wenger gave Arsenal.com the following team news:

on Walcott...
“Theo is back in the squad, this is much quicker than I thought.”

on Van Persie, Vermaelen, Gibbs - all went off against Benfica...
“From the players who played in the last game, everyone should be available.”

on Wilshere...
“Jack Wilshere has been put in a boot. He has an inflamed ankle and it is difficult to set any specific date on his return, but we hope he will be back soon.”

on rumours around Ramsey and Arshavin getting injured on international duty...
“From the internationals, everyone is alright. I am positive on all of them, so they should be able to travel tomorrow. Many of them have played 45 minutes to an hour.”

on Diaby...
“Abou Diaby is slowly improving. As well, it is difficult to say when he will be back, but we know he will not play before the end of September.”

on the condition of the squad at this stage of season...
“During pre-season we were more disturbed by transfer noise than injuries. We already knew that Diaby would not start the season, but he is improving steadily. We did not know that Wilshere would not start the season, that is our only bad surprise. But it is not a threatening injury, it is an inflamed ankle and we hope he will be back with us soon. Overall, this has been the best pre-season medically for a long time.”

Ryo can't play so it'll be Ugly Theo on the bench.

Also, Rambo did mostly well in pre-season, he doesn't do those crazy through balls like Cesc did but spreads the play a lot better and uses the ball intelligently so he'll be starting, wouldn't object to Arshy off RvP in more of a 4-4-2 with Song and Rambo in the middle though.

I believe he needs to get a permanent 'staying' visa from all the way back in Japan, work permit is fine but everything else needs to be processed.

Rosicky didn't do much better than Ramsey imo, he looked sharper than he has in a long time and I'm glad to have him back playing well but Ramsey was a better playmaker with Rosicky still tending to get drawn into the tippy-tappy. I'll be happy to see them in the midfield 3 together but Rambo is more important to us creating chances, which is pretty important with Cesc and Nasri on their way out.

Newcastle v Arsenal (1730 BST)

Arsene Wenger will get a lot of money from selling Cesc Fabregas and, probably, Samir Nasri but the big issue for the Arsenal manager is whether he can get their replacements in time, and at what cost.

It may well be that at this stage of the summer he will now have to pay over the odds to get players he wants, so I really don't understand why he has let this situation develop.

Wenger came out towards the end of last season and made the admission that he knew exactly what was wrong with his team, which was obviously lacking a goalkeeper and a centre-back who could head the ball. As of yet he has not addressed that, which is why I am thinking Liverpool might nick fourth spot off the Gunners.

They may be an attractive side to watch but all their fans will tell you that, when the ball comes into their box, they watch through their hands and fear the worst.

Newcastle have not had a great summer either but the bottom line from owner Mike Ashley seems to be that they are just trying to stay in the Premier League.

The Magpies do not spend much money either and their strategy seems to be to buy players who are untried in England and hope that, like Cheik Tiote did, they turn into very good players.

This fixture finished 4-4 last season, in a game that absolutely defined Arsenal, but I think it might be a little less crazy on Saturday.

Prediction: 1-2

if you mix competitive and non competitive fixtures we have won six games from the past twenty three games (23 games competitive and non competitive since we beat Barcelona in February), I am not optimistic for this game, statistics give me no reason to be optimistic

Three wins from our last nine away games
The only player from last season and in pre-season who seems capable of scoring goals is Robin Van Persie
We will conceed goals, our defence is incapable of leadership and stopping itself from making howlers

We should watch out for Demba Ba, he's one of those annoying players that always seem to pop up with a tap in or scruffy goal. He was quite effective in the short time he had at West Ham last year.

Fancy us to score a few but it's just a case of whether we can snuff Newcastle out of the game. They'll want to start well for their fans so I think we'll have an open game at least, I just hope we're prepared defensively because that will probably be the difference.

In a way I think it's better for us to start away so all the intense expectation isn't felt. I'm sure it will be back next week against Liverpool so starting well here could give them a much needed reprieve.

At the moment, our only other striking options are Chamakh and potentially Walcott and Chamberlain. That is nowhere near enough.

45 minutes of infuriating carelessness and negativity in the final third of the pitch. It's unbelievable how these so-called talented players can't make a single useful pass once they get anywhere near the opposition goal.

Sagna has been appalling, he's had a whole summer to figure out how to kick a ball but no progress whatsoever, if anything he's worse than last year. There's more to being a full back these days than being able to defend and this guy had better pick his game up or he;s going to cost us just as badly as he did last year. Shocking performance.

Looks like we may have another Walcott in Gervinho. He's positive, tries hard but he can't pass and he doesn't make the right choices in the danger areas. Three times I've seen him now and three times I've thought, here we go again. There's time for him yet of course so let's hope for the best.

Now we can graphically see why Fabregas and Nasri leaving will be a blow. Some have been saying Ramsey is playing well, I don't think so. He's doing nothing positive, providing no penetration and he's careless with his passing. He needs to sort his shit out. But Wenger must sign a quality playmaker as soon as possible. Jack's not the answer, he won't make enough goals for us.

Koscielny looks like an accident waiting to happen, he's looks like he's always on the very of doing something horrendous. So far he's just about holding his shit together but it's nail biting every time he gets the ball. Chesney's had a good game though and he's looked a lot better with his distribution. Which is more than can be said of Gibb's and TV's hoofing, WTF? RvP isolated, Arshavin not doing enough, Rosicky busy doing nothing, it's all depressingly familiar. And this is a poor Newcastle.

Still expect RvP to grab a goal in the second half and that might be enough, Koscielny willing. Dull, like watching paint dry. No power, no pace and is Song the stupidest player we've had at the club? Bless him he tries but he's thick as a plank, Barton will probably trick him off the pitch before the end.

Bring Walcott on for Rosicky, stick Arshavin in behind RvP, see if they can make something (anything) happen.

The Realist

Yeh, the striking issue is less of a problem when you've got the attacking mids to contribute the goals but without Cesc and potentially Nasri, whether their standard roles can be fulfilled by current team members or not, there's nothing to suggest said members can contribute the extra goals we require from them. Especially in the Cesc role behind the striker, Ramsey is just too anonymous in most games to really deliver, still early days and it's a bit unfair to judge like that, but we really need to go into the season feeling at least somewhat prepared.

Niall_Quinn

No he hasn't, get real. He can't do it all on his own, he needs more quality from the players around him. He's had a couple of good touches and (all joking aside) looks like he lacks a little bit of sharpness which will come back in a couple of games. He's the most likely to change the game with one hit.
