I get the feeling with Bale that he's not really bothered about moving. He doesn't look like the type of player who would be comfortable with the expectation of being the worlds most expensive player and expected to win games for RM. Just doesn't have the aura of a Ronaldo, Figo, Zidane, Fat Ronaldo etc - He's just a Welsh valley gimp.

I suppose you could call it lack of ambition from his part. That's two seasons now without Champions league football for him, he should really be moving on.

Either way Spurs have done bloody well to get him to keep signing these contract extensions, didn't he sign one last season? They're ensuring he either stays or leaves for massive money. Well done Levy.

GARETH BALE has rocked Tottenham by telling chairman Daniel Levy he wants to join Real Madrid.
According to Spanish paper Marca, Bale has accused Levy of broken promises after Spurs snubbed an offer from the La Liga giants.
It had been thought that Andre Villas-Boas could tempt the PFA Player of the Year into one more season in North London.
But Villas-Boas’ hopes have today been torn to shreds by the dramatic revelation that Bale wants out.

I don't think he'll be expected to reach Messi and Ronaldo freak figures instantly. But if he doesn't at least match his output of last season and doesn't become hugely influential by his second season, the knives will naturally be out. He's obviously not worth even a quarter of the insanely high figures mentioned, but money is irrelevant to a club operating on their own hallowed, yet extremely scummy, ground. If Bale does succeed there, then all credit to him, because he'd be in very exclusive company. He might be a cheating, diving shit on the pitch, but he's obviously worked hard, much like Ronaldo did in becoming a great athlete who can simply overpower defenders with his physical attributes. He hasn't done anything off the pitch (as far as I'm aware) to make him a despicable human being like Wazza, Gazza, Stevie Me, Saint Giggsy, Big Man, RVC or Cisc either.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes Financial Fair Play would be made a 'joke' of if Real Madrid were to pay £105million to sign Gareth Bale from Tottenham.

Spurs claim they have no intention of selling their star man but the Spanish giants are said to be ready to test that resolve with what would be a world-record fee.
Wenger feels such figures would go completely against the new UEFA-driven regulations aimed at making sure all clubs balance the books.
"It makes a joke of it. It's quite amazing that in the year where the Financial Fair Play comes in, the football world has gone completely crazy," said the Arsenal manager, who has yet to make a marquee summer signing despite having significant funds available.
"You wonder what kind of impact and effect it has on the football world. It looks like it has made everybody worse than before."
Despite the fierce rivalry between the two north London clubs, Wenger would not like to see Bale - whose stellar performances earned him the PFA Player and Young Player of Year gongs last season - leave the Premier League.
"It is never good to lose a big player," the Gunners boss added.
"He is a British player and I believe it is important that the Premier League keeps the best players."

Because all that stuff about other clubs is a snowjob to cover his own refusal to spend at the market rate. In essence he's absolutely correct, the transfer fees are crazy. But if that's the state of the game right now there's no advantage (on the field anyway) to backing out of the transfer market and complaining about it as an alternative strategy. We're either competing, crazy fees and all, or we aren't. This year we have some money, apparently, so penny pinching and listening to Wenger go on about what city and the spuds are up to isn't acceptable. Action needed, not more bullshit.

We're improving too, internally. The young players get better and better every year with 1 extra year of experience under their belt.

Plus we have spirit and togetherness don't forget, how many teams can say that. Plus I'm confident we won't lack a little bit of sharpness this season.

I love spirit and togetherness :loveblush:

Completely different set of circumstances. For one, United and Spurs are in the same league so selling to a rival team would go against Spurs goals of making the top four and getting CL football. Two, Cesc may just be biding his time until Xavi begins to decline then he becomes a consistent starter in the midfield for Barca. That or he really loves Arsenal and won't go to any other team in the EPL.

Probably but he's been in rehab for a while anyway so it stands to reason he's somewhere approaching match fitness, also Sperz wouldn't want to risk playing him incase he picks up an injury which could scupper the deal. Sperz gave him their blessing for his jolly to Spain on the weekend as well.

I don't think this is on the same level as Suarez because his club had no interest in selling him and he wouldn't accept that.

'Gareth was a player we had absolutely no intention of selling as we look to build for the future'

He is a player whose career we have fostered and developed and he was only a year into his new four year contract'

Such has been the attention from Real Madrid and so great is Gareth's desire to join them, that we have taken the view that the player will not be sufficiently committed to our campaign in the current season

We have, therefore, with great reluctance, agreed to this sale and do so in the knowledge that we have an exceptionally strong squad'

A Tottenham supporters’ group has set up an online petition demanding an end to the club’s ‘strategic partnership’ with Real Madrid.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy presided over the world-record sale of Gareth Bale to Madrid this summer and last year sanctioned Luka Modric’s £33m Bernabeu switch.

Despite the clubs’ supposed special relationship, however, an alleged plea from Levy to Real president Florentino Perez to call off Mesut Ozil’s transfer to Spurs’ local rivals Arsenal fell on deaf ears.

And the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust (THST) have now concluded that the partnership only benefits the Spanish giants.

Funny little club, what do they expect a "strategic relationship" between one of the biggest clubs in the game and a piss ant minor outfit living in a huge shadow in North London to be like? It's pretty damn easy to understand, if the spuds groom a decent player then Madrid buys him. There's the relationship, or ownage to be precise.

Shitty little club, seven signings and the big news is still who Arsenal signed.

Forever in our shadow, and they seem to be perfectly comfortable there.

Capoue out for a month

Probably should think more about playing footie rather than fouling Cazorla when he comes back.

Levy.

If he hadn't been so determined to make Real Madrid pay £85 million big ones for Bale then it's possible they would not have needed to sell somebody to offset it.

Pretty sure Real offered Spurs some players but it's not their fault that nocunt wanted to go there.

'Strategic partnership'.

He's obviously got enough to pay for that sweet Bart Simpson wallpaper, but as far as I can tell his account isn't monetised.
