It’s a bit of everything really. They spent all their money in the areas that needed strengthening the most. Players like Wijnaldum, VVD, Salah and Mane have turned out to be way better than anyone thought, I remember plenty of scoffing at the prices they paid for them but now they look like bargains. Trent looks like their best youth product since Gerrard and a lot of the pre-Klopp players have had their games elevated by him.

Klopp was the perfect fit for them, a passionate guy that a rabid fanbase could easily buy into. His style of play works exactly to the strength of every single player in the team.

It may sound corny, but this is what happens when good people put a plan together.

They have been meticulously strengthening their team in the areas where they have been most in need.

When players didn’t fit, or didn’t want to stay, they were decisive and got excellent returns for them, continuing to strengthen in adversity.

The plan has been supported by a singleminded culture that all have bought into. They have built an incredible culture dedicated to winning. Most importantly, they’ve not lost sight of that even though things went against them last season. By just about any measure from any other period in league history, they would have been Champions last season.

Despite that setback when they put together the best season in their Clubs history, and it wasn’t good enough, they have pressed on and are on pace to do even better.

A lot of people say that is down to Klopp. To some extent it is. However, let’s say Klopp came to Arsenal. Does anybody seriously think for a moment that with our ownership, our Management and the culture they have permeated at our Club, that he would have anything like the success he is working towards at Liverpool.
