Whilst we are in the opening stages of the new forum... we'd be interested in any feedback you have that could help us make this forum better! That includes reporting any faults that you find whilst browsing the forum... any suggestions for improvements... or just feedback in general!

Myself, or one of the admins, will get back to you as soon as possible!

Hi Jofnn,

Great job. One suggestion, can we have a floaty menu? with this http://www.goonersweb.co.uk/forum/search.php?do=getnew&contenttype=vBForum_Post in place of the old 'Todays Active Topics'?

Also old GW has gone weird, how do I view the 'Archived' content, the only sections left are AFC Debate and Help Zone, where is General Chat etc.

Thanks

Oh also, why no V&I section?

I was hoping for less family friendly content ##

There's some discussions ongoing about "floaty" at the moment and whether to bring it over to this forum. There's a "quick navigation" option at the bottom of the forum where you can quickly move between sections of the forum (for now at least)...

As for old GW, Letters is sorting that now... it was basically to make it more obvious that this place is now live. He has said that all forums will now be in read only and will be visible again shortly :)

How about instead of Non-Arsenal area, something along the lines of "General Football chat." Would remove the need for the subheading of the forum.

Cool. I'm sure when I get more used to this place I'll find navigation easy enough even without the floaty bar.

I stayed because I liked the people and enjoyed the banter.
All boards have fairly similar layouts and while we can tweak till our heart's content we'll never find a layout that everyone likes.
A board surely lives or dies because of the people on it rather than the way it looks unless it looks horrible which I don't think this does.

Is there anyway more features of the old site can be brought onto here??

Also can u make the subheading font on the thread titles smaller thks

You see Letters, although you're not keen on being vague when they critisise, they have to be....as I told you I knew people would feel this way about the site after I tried to use it.

It feels a bit characterless, difficult to get round, not pleasing on the eye at all.

As stated above. I originally chose GW above all others because it looked good and was simple...because the other sites all looked and felt like this...It doesn't for some reason give me as much motivation to come on.

Sorry wish it was different...and I do appreciate the work that went into it.

Bottom left - you can change the colour scheme to "Home kit" for red and white.

I follow a lot of Arsenal-related stuff on Twitter, but I don't talk a lot about it. Occasionally I get a good conversation going with Der Kaiser, Ollie the Optimist or Denton Boy. Probably still mainly here though.

Letts. Is there an option whereby you can view who's using a section / thread??

V-Pig
23-05-2011, 09:31 AM
Here's a strange one. On forums, under the thread title, it always lists the pages as "1, 2, 3... 12", for example. No one ever really wants to read page 3 of a 12-page thread. Is it possible to make it more like "1... 10,11,12"? That way you can read back a page or two to see if you've missed anything recently.

I realise that all forums are like that, so it might not be possible, but it's always struck me as a flaw.

Hmm. Far as I can tell it just creates a link between you and that poster.
I think you can do stuff like restrict blog articles (when we add the blog, it's just hidden at the moment) to friends and maybe even create threads that only your friends can see. Or something.
I Googled it tbh and the info I got was a bit vague.

This "Reply," "reply with quote" and "reply to thread" needs kicking. The reply button may as well not exist cos it seems to perform the same function as "reply to thread" and it may get confused with quote, leaving threads incomprehensible.
