Right now we'd have trouble selling Arsenal to Top players imo. are only saving grace is CL footie nothing else. Wenger or no Wenger it will still be the same. rebulding us to those heights we once were will take a along time tbh.

Got to hand it to Ferguson, last season they were clearly lacking in certain areas (they still won the league somehow)...he didn't waste anytime and bought the right players and once again they're looking very very strong.

Must be nice to have someone in charge who spots problems and doesn't waste any time sorting them out.

He can take a prospect like Jones and get him firing within a few games. We can take a prospect like Walcott and turn him into a guy who plays like he's never kicked a ball. I'm wondering when Wenger is going to figure out that Ferguson's way works and his doesn't. There are enough clues littered around the place.

He scores some goals, he's just as prolific (which isn't that much) as a lot of the players we already have. I don't think it's fair to say he carried WBA at all. He certainly didn't carry WBA when it came to his fuck-ups against Man Utd, which really they should've got something out of. He was part of a fairly good attack, which probably needed to be fairly good given their defence was so poor. You're missing out players like Brunt, Thomas and even Scharner - they were just as big a part of 'carrying' them as Odemwingie supposedly was.

But after that fuck up, he recovered and dealt with it, and finished strong, not saying he would've gotten us to the next level, but right now we have one real goal scorer, and Theo and Arshavin, after that it's pretty much nothing. Would helped in terms of depth. 15 goals in your first England season at WBA aint nothing to sniff at.

22 mins: What the... !? Almost a total disaster for Scott Dann on his Blackburn debut. He plays the ball back across his back four after failing to notice Bobby Zamora is lurking to intercept. Michel Salgado is back to challenge and muscle Zamora off the ball, in what appeared at first glance to be a certain penalty. Replays show Zamora was barged over - but he ends up being penalised by referee Howard Webb because he handled the ball as he fell over. Harsh.

Although, that has probably cursed him now which can be good.

I don't think the curse will work this time. He in particular is the fulcrum through which all their play seems to go. A far-cry from the 'second level' tier signing I had him down as on these very pages this time last year

MOTD2 are closing today's edition with Clive Dunn's 'Grandad'. Apt really as it's a tribute to some Prem 40-somethings, when Clive himself was only about that age at the time..

Even so:

Thing is, he is second tier. For Spain.

Just saw the pelanty not given to Zamora by Webb, when Salgado nudged him in the box.

He was standing right behind the incident.

Howard Webb .

Worst ref ever?

Can't think of anyone worse. An absolute imbecile.

There was also that elbow in one of the matches - can't remember which - where the player ended up with a bloody nose. The defender knew damn well he was there before he threw his arm back to 'accidentally' hit him. That was a blatant defender professional foul and should have been dealt with. Of course, if it was one of our defenders, the player would have had a retrospective red card and 3 match ban imposed.

*Edit Tamas (West Brom) was the defender, James Vaughan (Norwich) was the victim.

Yup Vaughan was left a bloody mess, in fact I think he requires facial surgery from it.

Wenger didn't see it again .

Woy has to say that in public. I have no problem with that. I don't expect any manager to slag off his players in public as that is just bad management.

9 mins: Oh, cracking cross. Armand Traore escapes down the left and the Senegal international whips in a terrific cross that is met by the flying figure of Shaun Wright-Phillips, the QPR new boy heading over. Probably not the man QPR will have wanted on the end of that deilivery to be fair.

Done more in 9 minutes than he ever did for us tbh
