I couldn't give a flying fuck about the Manc derby.

What if it's a full house and it's nearly half time and Phil Dowd is the ref and his mate Graham poll is in the crowd along with Tony Blair and Rick Astley and suddenly a meteor falls out of the sky and hits the stadium smack bang in the centre and every last manc and arab is wiped off the face of the earth and all that's left is this giant, smouldering crater and then all the news helicopters arrive and start doing the tragedy thing and everyone starts going on about how great Utd and City were and there's a huge appeal and tons of money is raised but eventually the fuss dies down and Utd and City go on to have a shit season because the authorities won't let them buy players outside the transfer window and nobody wants to sell to them in january and they both get relegated and City go out of business because it ends up being proved it wasn't a meteor at all but that arab bloke's wallet falling out of a plane so they get banned from owning the club and City fades from living memory.

Then would you be interested? Because I have a sneaky feeling that's exactly what's going to happen.

Yeah. What has struck me is that games are going on GS 2-3 weeks in advance now, they pretty much expect games not to sell out anymore to members. I'm sure the big'uns will be gone in a flash but the bread and butter games aren't worth it. Harrods prices, Primark product tbh.

Ahead of the home game with Stoke on Sunday, Wenger admitted he would like to give the Dutchman a breather but has struggled to find an opportunity.

"It is a difficult decision to make at the moment," said the manager. "But I will have to do it.

"On Monday I decide always to rest him and on Friday I play him again.

"I don't know about Sunday. We will assess everybody on Saturday morning, then I'll make the decision on the day. But I will have to rotate a little bit.

League games are a must, surely. We have a league cup game at home in mid-week so he can be benched for that...possibly play Park or Gervinho upfront. And in Europe we've played the 2 most difficult away games and are in decent shape. We have a lot of home games coming up. He can manage a game a week right now, can't he? It's only October.

He talks about rotating...obviously Jenkinson won't play. I doubt Rosicky will play so we're looking at Ramsey to play. I'd play Benayoun or Oxo instead of Walcott.

I don't think we can rest Van Persie for this game but if we do, Gervinho up front sounds like our best bet.

Rest for what?!

These guys are professionals and are paid very handsomely for that. I understand needing a rest towards the later part of the season but these guys just started the freaking seson and already our players are tired?!

We are not hearing about burnout among any other clubs players yet... WTF is happening with our players? They play the least games (among top teams), get injured the most and still need rest. RVP has rested enough since he joined us.. time for him to MTFU!

Arsenal: Szczesny, Djourou, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Andre Santos, Walcott, Song, Arteta, Ramsey, Gervinho, Chamakh.
Subs: Fabianski, Rosicky, Park, van Persie, Arshavin, Frimpong, Benayoun.

Stoke: Begovic, Wilkinson, Shawcross, Upson, Wilson, Whitehead, Delap, Whelan, Etherington, Walters, Crouch.
Subs: Sorensen, Huth, Jones, Diao, Shotton, Jerome, Palacios.

Referee: Lee Mason (Lancashire)

Niall_Quinn
23-10-2011, 12:04 PM
We'll struggle with that team. I just don't get why we would change a winning formula beyond the forced changes. Rosicky was doing okay, RvP not starting is obviously a great boost for the opposition, yet the one change it might have been wise to make was Walcott who has been totally infective all season. Yet he starts. Another Wenger magical mystery team. Fingers crossed I suppose, but this deliberately weakening the team shit is getting old.

Djourou and Santos will need cover too, so yes, we need a big performance from the wide men. We can only hope Chamakh gets hooked early, might as well give Park a chance if Wenger is determined to keep RvP out of this.

And Chamakh up front, to be fair. The guy's a disaster.

HT

Very poor, midfield haven't got a grip, another weak showing from Ramsey. Walcott anonymous, waste of space. Gervinho sloppy (though I missed his goal). Defence okay except when it came to the critical moment - same old story. Don't like Santos. Best that can be said of Djourou is he hasn't fucked up yet. Add in a fucking useless ref who has heavily influenced the score and it's a bad 45 mins so far.

Wenger shouldn't have changed the team other than to drop Walcott and bring in Ox. Fucking stupid decision making from him again.

One possibility is an Asian gambling syndicate rang up and said, "Hey Lee, we'll give you a brown envelope full of cash if you rig the half time score", and Lee says, "Cool, no problem, most of the people over here are thick cunts who can't even bring themselves to imagine the game is fixed, plus I can play the incompetent cunt which again is fine because nobody does anything about incompetent cunts either even though we destroy the game." And Harry Chapati says, "1-1 at half time matey boy, make it happen"

Unsure about Merts - he's looked solid. Koscielny has been the outstanding defender in the last couple of games. Very sharp into the tackle...just lacking the physical strength to make him a complete CB but he's performing very well.

Unsure whether to put Verm back at this rate. Maybe at RB.
