Now that he is showing positive signs of recovery so his survival chances are good (although I guess that's an end to his football career) they can go ahead and arrange the match. There is plenty of time to get quarters and semis out of the way well before the final so no rush to do it in the next week or so. Maybe after a couple of PL matches to let things settle a bit. If he had actually died, that would be a totally different matter and the club would just have to make their own decision.

I don't really care who wins it as long as the spuds don't. I can see the good side to Liverpool or Chelsea winning it because they might retain their current managers which will lower their chances of a league revival next year.

I think Arsenal fans quite like Everton. They roll over every time Arsenal play them and take points off everyone else. (Oooh but Syn, in 20xx, Everton beat us 2-1!...shhh.) Besides they don't spend a lot and Moyes seems like an alright guy - deserves some success.

To be fair a day isn't really going to make much of a difference. The whole needing at least 3 days before a match is overstated, imo. And they'd be at home anyway for the potential semi final, so it's hardly a long journey. And it's Sunday to Wednesday anyway so they can't moan.

It's been an eventful week at Anfield, with director of football Damien Comolli leaving the club by mutual consent. Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has also seen his methods come under heavy scrutiny at they struggle in Premier League, but defender Jamie Carragher launched a staunch defence, saying: "I think some of the criticism towards the manager in recent weeks has been disrespectful and crossed the line to a certain extent because of who he is. Ball was in the Liverpool area. Carragher (and I think Agger) hesitated - both left it for eachother to boot it clear, in the end Carragher had a swipe, it hit Cahill and rebounded into the path of Jelavic who tapped it in first time.

Sounds about right. He was a great player in his day but I'm not convinced he is that good a manager. When he managed Liverpool before, he was taking over a team which had been top of the league - Europe even - for many years under other managers so he did have some momentum in place. If he'd started stone cold with a relatively average Liverpool like now, I wonder if he would have had success in his last spell as manager.

That's true but he did bring in quite a few players as well to refresh the squad; Houghton, Barnes, Beardsley, Aldridge, McMahon for example and came in after our (comparatively) worst season for a good decade. It's still impressive to stay at the top though and we've seen countless times that just having a good team doesn't necessarily equal success.

But fair points.

well whoever made the signings had a shocker.

whether it's kenny focusing too much on the domestic market even though the foreign markets have proved more effective for english teams, he definetly would have had a say in who they bought in.

and he's terribly backwards in terms of handling the media; whether you love them or hate them you need to be able to handle the media nowadays because it's become an integral part of modern footballisation. his attitude stinks and his arrogrance breeds hatred. and lets not even start on the suarez issue.
