He's a bit scary, so similar to Luis Ronaldo.
If there was an opportunity for us to have signed him and we didn't (not sure how strong the rumours were) then Wenger.
He might be the one reason Deschamps cannot fail this time.

What a player. Reminded me of Ronaldo as well. Haven't seen a striker like this in ages. He's a handful.
Wenger always talks about nearly signing a player. I used to think it shows off his footballing knowledge but it also shows poor judgement and conviction. Makes him look bad everytime.
France are looking strong but really not sure of they can go all the way.
Hard to believe he’s only 19. Such an explosive player and now that you mention it, there are a lot of Luis Ronaldo similarities, that powerful running combined with skill and touch. As long as he stays clear of injuries, he will probably make the next decade his own like Messi and Ronaldo have done for this one.
France currently have another golden generation. Wenger was ahead of the curve in 98 but he completely missed the boat for the current crop. Sanogo summed up how blurred his eye for talent had become.

He was incredible yesterday.
I'll save Cripps the job of saying that if Wenger had signed him then he wouldn't be half as good now
Wasn't even born when France won the last world cup. Makes you feel old.
But yeah quite possibly one of the worst, "Wenger could have signed signed him" alongside Ronaldo.
By all accounts we were interested before he got into Monaco's first team though whether he would have developed as well here as he did at Monaco is definitely questionable.
There was talk that we made a bid of over £120m for him, and that Wenger spoke to him at length in person (that's according to the player himself) - if that first part is true then it sounds like we threw absolutely everything we had at getting him. The player chose PSG in the end though, which is understandable on many levels...
He was seriously considering us, apparently...

*sigh*
We were rumoured to be linked to him when he was 16 or 17 before he became a regular for Monaco and Phillipe Au Clair confirmed it on the Guardian football podcast today. Apparently we had to pay a few million to his parents & agent but for some inexplicable reason the deal fell through either we balked at the demands or Wenger's usual dilly-dallying cost us and Monaco made efforts to secure him.
He made a mistake going PSG. Neymar is the main man there so they'll accomodate others around Neymar. At Madrid or somewhere like City a team would have been built around Mbappe and you'd see him flourish at club level even more.
Nevertheless this kid is an absolute monster. Think in a few years everyone will be debating Neymar vs Mbappe just like they're debating Big Ron vs the bottling Argentinean now.
