i would be surprised if we moved away from the 4-3-3 and the modern way of playing is closing fast, then hitting on the break even faster, so pace is essential to our approach. only barcelona have the players to tiptoe their way through a minefield of defenders to score as our lot are very good technically but that isn't enough. theo working out upfront could change wengers thinking but only having one striker that has any pace is a big worry. cheeky bid for chicarito? yeah i know, no chance but he'd be killer for us.
The best thing about Chamakh is there's enough grease in his hair to keep a chip shop ticking over for several months.
On the football pitch he has just been awful, having seen him many times before he arrived it comes as no surprise though, never felt he was a quality player.
Was excellent for Bordeaux especially in their title winning season and he does hold the CL record for scoring in most consecutive games and the one run he's had in our team, he scored goals and won quite a few penalties. Probably could and should have done better in the couple of games he's started in since but it wasn't to be. Not a bad player by any means. Just wrongly managed
our defence of eboue, toure, senderos, flamini also held/holds the cl defensive record - these freaks of nature happen.
perhaps badly managed but chamakh has to take responsibility for chamakh. if he wants to succeed at a big club, then he has to realise that a luxury run of games to get up and running are few and far between. either as sub or occassional starter his all round game - not just putting it into the net - has to shine through, and he hasn't done that. and that is down to him. i was behind him when he first started his barren spell but have come to realise that he just is not good enough for arsenal if we want to get better.
Playing in the french league and this one are 2 diffrent things. You have to work twice as hard. Its clear this league is hard for him. He even said so himself in his 1st season and he is still struggling.
End of the day no one in the top 4 would have him in their team shows you have good he really is. Only saving grace we paid no money for the guy.

Fair points. I don't think he's good enough for what we want to achieve either but nether is Giroud. Time for KJH and Ba tbh

Arsenal's pursuit of Klaas-Jan Huntelaar may have come to an unhappy end for the Gunners, with reports emerging from Germany that the Dutch forward will sign a new deal with Schalke 04.
The 29-year-old was said to want £100k per week to move to England , and if local reports are to be believed, the Royal Blues have succumbed to his demands and a contract extension will be announced in the next few days.
Such news will cheers Schalke fans who have endured a drop from second to seventh place in the Bundesliga over recent weeks, as well as an early cup exit at the hands of Mainz.
It will further frustrate Arsene Wenger though, who was said to be very keen on adding a proven goalscorer of Huntelaar's quality to his misfiring frontline.
With his contract expiring in June, Schalke had feared that the striker - who netted 48 goals in 48 games last season - would walk away for free in the summer, and had been preparing to sell him in January had he stalled further on a new deal.
Instead, WAZ now report that he will stay at the Veltins Arena, with coveted teammate Lewis Holtby also said to be close to a decision on his future.
Oh well.
Least Holtby still ain't signed a deal, must get tbh.
