You could also try tour operators like Thomas Cook and Thomson who might provide packages for match tickets, stadium tours etc. They'll probably be quite expensive but if you're not too bothered you'll at least get to see a game you otherwise wouldn't have been able to and you can make a trip of it.
Yep, Carling cup games are much cheaper than the normal ones, the cheapest adult ticket for the Chelsea game is going to be a tenner (minus booking fees) . Premiership games won't be on general sale. Fa Cup ones might. General sale meaning you can just pay for the ticket without being a member.

Genuinely no point paying even a tenner to watch two teams who couldn't care less about the competition play out a battle of whose second string makes less mistakes. Could've made that less wordy but you get the point. Use the money for good, not evil.
I remember a friend of mine years ago getting very excited about getting tickets to an Arsenal vs ManYoo league cup game.
I said to her "...you do know it'll be mostly reserve players?"
Her: "No...? Will David Beckham be playing?"
Me: "No!"

im coming up for the chelsea league cup game. mate asked if i fancied it, ten quid plus 15 quid for travel up makes a cheap football day.
we all know it will be a weak squad, but watching the Arsenal with friends and seeing us live is always special. no matter what game
