5 years seems harsh in comparison with Stuart Hall because the girl did this off her own bat, but there is a line between student and teacher that should never be crossed. If he didn't realise it was wrong during his jolly with her to France, then he deserves the jail time if only for his sheer stupidity.

You've used the word rape, and it is 'statutory rape' because she was 15, but by her own testimony it was a relationship she entered into (no pun intended!) willingly and leaving the country was more her idea than his.

5yrs is fair IMO. Fucking a 15yr old is wrong if you're a 30yr old teacher, very wrong. I don't even know how a 30yr old can be attracted to a 15yr old tbh. I doubt he was dating her for her personality.

What did Stuart Hall actually do? Did he fuck anyone? "Sexual assault" can mean lots of things.

I think it is a fair sentence given that I would expect for someone in a position of trust and authority to be punished more harshly as a result of abusing that trust and authority.
