There’s a bit of Gervais being Gervais but he’s not got much range as an actor.
I just think it’s better written than other recent stuff.
The writing in Derek was particularly lazy, this is much better.
    IMO.

Oh, and it has Kerry Godliman in as his dead wife, she’s the niece of someone at church which makes me famous. Probably.

    Just seen Episode one.
Reckon this is Gervais’s best work since Extras (which IMO is his best work, it’s better than The Office, IMO)

I'm not normally a fan of him so can't really comment on his other stuff, but actually really enjoying this.

I'd recommend Extras. IMO his best work although this is arguably as good, maybe better. The Office was good too although a little overrated.
His other stuff I can take or leave.

I really like The Invention of Lying. It's a bit preachy but it's funny with a good cast.
NOTE: The location of this post has been moved and the thread title (which was previously Wenger is Leaving) has been manipulated by a notorious pro-Wenger moderator. What was previously a message that contained no profanity and made a comment on a real life event has now been manipulated by a deliberately provocative title. An old and crude propaganda and censorship technique.

If anyone missed Giri/Haji i'd really recommend it - a really excellent British / Japanese crime drama which is really well written and acted and beautifully shot - it was on BBC2 so you should be able to get it on iplayer still

Not the same but in the same ballpark, I prefer Liar Liar.
The I of L is a good idea, but too often Gervais uses it to mean that people are just outright rude to each other - being unable to lie doesn't mean having some kind of Tourettes where you say whatever is on your mind about someone unprompted no matter how rude.

It's OK but overall the idea is better than the execution, IMO.

I agree, extras and this are is best shows.

I think in afterlife, he has really good balance between some brilliantly funny scenes with some really moving scenes as well. Not easy with such a sensitive subject and making people laugh with it.

I tried. But it was too slow for me, and I'm not bothered by slow. But this was slow.

Yeah it's a slow burn but the characters are great.
