The times are briefing today that the UK plans to have 90,000 fans in Wembley for the final of the Euros on 11th July.
I know UEFA hate us so would be very reluctant to agree to let us host the EUROs entirely here rather then their stupid idea of having games all around Europe but given the problems in Europe at the moment with slow vaccine rollout etc, it does sound like quite a good idea to have the entire thing here. Fans would be at most games too
Also the government should make the entire week of the 21st June a national holiday.
all our bank holidays last year were effectivley cancelled so they owe us some in my mind!
imagine good weather, a week off with no Covid restrictions, England play in the euros on 22nd June. We’d probably pay off the national debt in one week with pub profits
I have tickets to England v Czech Rep on 22nd June.
Cannot tell you how excited I am at the possibility of a full house at Wembley and restrictions lifted.
Watch it piss it down that day
You used to be everything to me
Now you're tired of fighting
Talk in the papers today that Rishi Sunak will bring back eat out to help out in May when restaurants reopen.
I think its a good idea but I’d delay it until July as all restrictions, in theory, will be gone middle of June. Therefore in July, the weather will be good (perhaps that is optimistic!), no restrictions in place, summer holidays, it would be a good boost to restaurants to really drive up attendance and get people going.
I know several blame the scheme for the second wave but if there are no restrictions in place and events like the final of euros at Wembley are going ahead with 90k in attendance, this scheme is unlikely drive up cases especially as in July almost all the adult population should have had a vaccine
