I was at the Swansea game and that was his debut if i remember rightly, he was excellent.

He doesnt win every header but who does?

Mountain out of a mole hill. Hes fine. Done very well. One summer signing we can be happy with

His game is all about positioning and he wins the ones where he gets that right. The problem is because he's so tall, his leap isn't great from a standing position, similar to Peter Crouch. You can see he's been a great player for us so far. Very intelligent in how he mops stuff up, and I do appreciate that we've finally adopted a deeper line and more pragmatic tactical outlook (also helped by Arteta).

Initially he seemed to struggle to adapt to the PL but I think he's getting there. Overall he's impressed me in the last few games.

Thankfully, Koscielny has improved hugely in terms of heading. Vermaelen has always been good in that department too.

There's very little to complain about regarding our defence at the moment, especially as we've been decimated. Shame Szczesny had to have his worst game (well half) of the season yesterday.

Agree with Kaiser and Letters. He's done well, and is definitely an upgrade on what we had, and a far better option than the likes of Cahill.

Given his awkward style you always hold your breath whenever he's on the ball, but he's a no nonsense defender and seems to have a nack of making timely interceptions. When Gallas and Toure were fucking up back in the day, a defender like Mertesacker is what we were calling for.
