It wasn't a case of letting him go in the top 3...he simply didn't want to take one. It was clear. Even Drogba was telling him to man up before he walked over.
I'll tell you what would've won it - Drogba fucking converting his penalty in normal time. Gervinho did well to win that penalty and generally caused a lot of problems as usual by running at defenders.
