All down to the death of the press and TV. These old dinosaurs can't compete so they want an online licensing regime to effectively mean they're the only ones who can afford to compete. None of this is particularly worrying because government and the media are utterly incompetent when it comes to tech and understand virtually nothing about it. So it will be extremely simple to route around any of their shitty authoritarianism and monopolistic bullshit.

So it has come to this. After Saturday we may all be exposed to some adults keeping their cigarettes in tins. I know older people go on about the, "good old days", but can anyone ever remember society sinking so low? Cigarettes in tin cases. It's almost unimaginable but, apparently, it is now a reality in modern Britain.MARLBORO has been accused of trying to sidestep new laws on plain packaging by selling cigarettes in reusable tins that look like an old-style packet of ten.
They have appeared in shops on the eve of new rules coming into force from this weekend which state retailers can no longer sell cigarettes in packs of less than 20 and cartons must all be the same drab green with the brand name in standard type.
After Saturday these tins will no longer be sold, but critics claim smokers will still use them by decanting fags from larger cardboard packets – allowing them to continue carrying a branded pack of 10.
I suppose the government will just sit back and do nothing about this, as always.
