Except we still need people to do those jobs Brits are too lazy to do. Fruit picking and the like. Who's going to do that? Commonwealth people, more brown faces. I'm sure that's what people voted for.

People didn't vote for anything, they voted against something.
No-one knew what that actually meant, there was no suggestion on the table from either side about what Brexit meant in practice.

Every Brexiter might have had their own little ideas about what Brexit would look like but there was never any guarantee that they'd get what they wanted. All they knew is they wanted to move house, there was never any suggestion of where they might move to other than vague promises from buses that it would be a mansion. And maybe it will be, but it could equally well be a hole in the ground covered in tarpaulin.
