To some extent, however players will still choose Barca, Real or Bayern over those clubs (they'll still get plenty of money), as those clubs are really seen as the prestige clubs these days (Barca and Real in particular).

If Barca or Real are interested in a player, City don't usually get him.

Prestige clubs? Maybe 20 years ago. Yes, they are the clubs that grab the lion's share of the media attention. And they win stuff, having spent a billion quid assembling their squads. Not sure what that has to do with prestige though. Unless you are talking about them living on past glories where they actually competed on a level pitch. Bit like a "prestigious" corporation such as Walmart, built from humble beginnings and therefore laudable until the point it started using money not to improve the customer experience but to bankrupt the competition and lock the customer into a single choice. In reality it's the corruption of prestige surely? Or you could say, well that's just the way football is going. In which case there's only room for a handful of clubs, the rest can go bust as a natural consequence of progress. I'm sure that's what the fans want and if not, it's certainly what the hype merchants crave. Football eating itself and everyone is cheering.

But yes, Draxler will go to the club that pays him the most. Unless he's a rare individual with a love for the real challenge and a respect for the game. He'll have agents that ensure he doesn't fall into that sort of idealism though.

Barca and Real have a rich history, which includes some of the greatest players playing there, are known for their flamboyant football and are seen as the biggest clubs in the world right now, they are the prestige clubs today.

Wenger will be too busy securing a lucrative deal with some tv station to commentate on the World Cup.

After that everything will be too expensive until 31st of August. Don't forget to respect the waiting period after the expensive period.

Anyway, we're looking at this all wrong.

Syn was right - keep the team together, no exits this summer please.

Then we need to start scouring the injury list for suitable players in positions we don't need, to add to the bench....

PSG are a mad house, anyone can see that, they are a team that would gladly spunk 500m to buy both Messi AND Ronaldo, if possible, and pay them both a million a week. So you must be insane to even think about it

Man United of course are no longer attractive, due to an obvious handicap.

Ozil to Arsenal was serendipitous. I don't even think Wenger targeted him at the start of the window.

Depending on what you believe....Manure turned Ozil down, else he could have easily been playing for them.

Wenger asked Ozil for his signature, Moyes asked him for his autograph.
