Lahm has been really poor so far this tournament. Why not just play him at either full-back position, where a better attacker is needed and play one of their countless proven midfielders in the middle. It seems to be stifling Germany slightly at the moment. Pep is ruining Germany now too.
Anyway, hope Mertesacker isn't turned and shown up for his lack of pace every two minutes like he has been constantly throughout his career, in which he's somehow managed over a hundred caps for Germany and played for illustrious clubs despite being so slow and not having pace.
