The sad thing is that none of this is especially even eye brow raising, just demonstrable truth

WOOP...good riddance, Britain needs a strong alternative to the Conservatives not a goggle eyed, feckless weirdo

And therein lies the problem with the UK.
Milliband might have fantastic policies but because he doesn't come across that well it doesn't matter.
It's all style over substance these days. If people don't vote for someone because he can't eat a bacon sandwich elegantly then what hope is there?

I think nothing said during the campaign made a blind bit of difference to the outcome, i think this result was in the pipeline for years, you saw in the by-election how when the Conservative share of the vote went down it wasn't going to Labour. You could see in the local elections that Labour was not making any kind of headway, and i think whilst Milliband might have rehabilitated himself in the campaign to the point where actually some people were saying "I like him", people don't vote for a PM because they like him/her.
I made the fatal mistake of voting for him in the leadership contest in 2010 (although it was the Union bloc and not my misguided vote that won it for him) but i think people in general have a propensity to cry for the moon. Was David Milliband in fact that much better than his brother?....no not really, he was just as awkward and weird as his younger brother....if the older one was strong enough to be leader and to have won the election for Labour than he'd have won the leadership contest as well.

It's better to burn out, than to fade away.
