I can sort of understand ridiculously high fees akin to the numbers bandied about with Suarez and higher, given it's Madrid and they want to respond to Barca getting Neymar.
But getting close to the world record, or even breaking it?
It's very likely that if the deal does happen it will top the 80m paid for Ronaldo. Probably somewhere between 85-90m.
Sperz would be foolish not to sell really, it's a fuckload of money that could bankroll them for a while.

the thing that i find most shocking about bale going for potentially a world record fee, is when you compared him to what ronaldo was when he went, he isnt anywhere close.
ronaldo had done it for quite a few seasons, won countless trophies, yet bale hasnt won a trophy and only really had one world class season (last season) he was good the year before and yet he will cost more then ronaldo. madness

Bale is not more than 35-40 million quid and thats stretching it! 90 million is ridiculous money for one good season.
