Some notable absentees from the World Cup so far, Netherlands, Chile and USA (I know the latter aren't the best team but they have been to every World cup since 1986 and should have qualified from their group considering they have a decent national league now).

Probably bad in terms of growing the game over there though. Would be good if they went on a Germany style rejuvenation project of their whole setup because they've got the potential to be a world powerhouse at the game (no joke ..... check out the stats about the number of kids playing it there now).
Chile
As I said earlier, it's ironic that the one season where Alexis ends up getting a summer break and it's the season we won't benefit from it.

On the whole though, out of the 23 teams to have qualified 18 of them made it to Brazil four years ago.

Couldn't the US just go into Panama and take the qualifying spot by force? At a time and place of their choosing and with much awe and stuff?

Trump's youngest son (Barron) is an Arsenal fan so maybe he could have a word with his old man to pull some strings here. I'm sure slipping a few million in "Aid projects" will go a long way to them (Panama) mysteriously deciding to pull out of the WC.
At any rate, Panama are just in a play-off against Australia so replacing them isn't a guarantee of a spot.
