Defeats the purpose of playing three at the back. I doubt we'll see the last of this. We might as well play 4-3-3/

I suppose he's worried about Mustafi being back late. But it can't explain why he's picked midfielders to play in defensive roles, when we have other defenders available. Must give a huge boost to the likes of Gabriel, Holding, Chambers etc when they see Wenger tapping up midfielders to take their jobs. It's probably time to admit defeat and give up trying to understand Wenger and the things he does.

Seems to place more value in a defender if they’re able to pass the ball out. A similar mentality Pep has. This is another problem we’ll have to wrestle with this season if he persists with the idea. From the glimpses I saw of the game, Elneny didn’t look good as a CB. It doesn’t add to our midfield either so no idea why he’d persist with this but you know what Wenger is like.
