Most refs are from up north so subconsciously take a dislike to 'southern softies'. Growing up they'll have been just like any other person and aware of the geographical rivalry. Most probably secretly support Northern teams or have hoards of family members that support them, so bias against a team like Arsenal will be subconsciously rooted in their DNA.

Add to that the fact we have an annoying, whiny, moany manager that doesn't make him very likeable, plus we were labelled as the dirty foreigners by the media for the influx of foreign players we had in our team when Wenger first arrived. You can see why not refs don't warm to us. Especially when most of them come from BNP quarters.
