True. It's impossible to stop every cross and not every cross is the perfect setup. Sometimes it's just down to bad marking. It's like the goal Townsend scored against us when Kolasinac fell asleep on the back post. It was a poor cross and better marking would have snuffed the problem out right away.

Of course not but he was ball watching, left too much space for that bloke to turn him inside out. You’re right about the defenders in the box though, so static.

No, but then again he's not a full back to begin with. And it shows. Not that Wenger would notice. Wenger has overloaded us with too many technical wide players, Niles is one of them competing with about 900 others for 2 spots. So Wenger shoves him into defence because he can't be arsed to get enough proper defenders in. All Wenger's fault, not Niles fault. He'll do what he can and he may even learn the role and develop into a decent defender, though that is highly unlikely under Wenger. And if Wenger spotted that happening he'd drop him anyway.

And I'm not even joking. The guy's a loon.

    The new Gibbs.

Coquelin and Flamini faced the same dilemma. They couldn't play in their natural positions and Wenger tried to the squeeze them in as fullbacks. We see the same thing with players like Iwobi, Ramsey, Wilshere, Walcott, Ox being played out wide.

Nothing to do with player education and development.

Clichy was one of the first signs of things going bad. He should have been a natural successor to Cole but he developed so far and then stalled and started to go backwards. That Cole transfer was bad. The rot really started to spread after that.

He followed the guy and tried to close him down up until he crossed it in. He saved us a few times in the game too. Giroud has scored the exact same goal many times and not because the opposition allowed us to cross....it is more a result of him stealing ahead of a single defender......and we had 3 of ours there.
