No but they played Spain one of the favourites, they played a better team and Ronaldo got them a draw, Argentina played a much weaker team and Messi cost them the win.
If he'd let the guy who won the penalty take it they'd have won, Messi has missed 3 of his last 6 penalties, good enough reason to let someone else have a go.
World Cup Final? I don't think he should have won it but he did get Player of the tournament.
You're the one saying Ronaldo steps up for his country, you're the one that needs to justify it. His previous three goals against Ghana, Iran and North Korea if I remember rightly.
Copa America, one of the finals Messi fucked up a pelanty in the shoot out granted but in the other one he scored his.
Gold medalist too.
If the ref misses something, VAR looks at the incident and advises him. Does it work the other way? If the ref gives a penalty, can VAR overturn the decision? Does the ref call for VAR?
Argentina .
Messi .
Absolute decrepit cloggers like Mascherano and Biglia () on the pitch while Banega and Lo Celso are on the bench. I think Di Maria has had one good game for Argentina in the last five years. They're a completely unbalanced, dysfunctional outfit, so they might as well stick Dybala on and go all-out.
Iceland might be a bit Burnley/Stoke/Bolton but they're also pretty neat and actually try to play when they can. And they don't have the budget of Mourinho/Simeone teams or the riches of the Premier League behind them. For a country of 150 people and a pool of 25 players, it's incredible what they achieve.
Also, time to bring Halldórsson home?
