Adjusted for population size in and number of days after the respective countries hit 49 deaths.

Couple of days data missing there, will probably update them at some point.
But the US are about to become the country with the highest death toll in the world and they haven’t hit their peak yet - unlike Italy whose numbers are actually going down now.
I also think that simply dividing by the population is too simplistic for reasons I’ve explained although do accept some adjustment for population makes sense.
One thing is for sure, they have not dealt with this well and the combination of a delay in responding and the scattergun approach where each governor has made up their own policies has not helped.
A lot of people are going to die because of these things.
Who knew that someone saying it’s all going to go away and that they’re doing a great job would not be an effective approach?!
