Either way, I think it's a good move to scrap them. Early in the pandemic you commended the government for balancing liberty with dealing with the situation.
Your view seems to have changed about that, but I reckon this is some indication that they're still trying to do that.

Nah. They have a hard-on for getting everyone vaccinated (including kids) and they just signed off the biggest tax cash grab in recent history. All they care about is their own position and privilege so this covid passport bullshit (which would have been smashed by the courts anyway) was too risky, too soon so is being repackaged as a "concession" by a government that cares and listens and loves you long time. It'll be back on the table once they are on steadier ground.

I still believe Johnson wanted to apply balance in the early days (and even through the later stages), but he caved every time to the pharma fascists - often at the last minute. Far from Churchill, he proved himself to be a coward. The silver lining is more and more people are finally realising the government is a puppet dancing to the corporate tune. That's a realisation that won't be easily dispelled.
