Private companies in Nevada have collectively started a class action lawsuit against The Peoples Republic of China and the Chinese health authorities. And this might not be as big a waste of time as it initially seems. The Chinese are trying to play the good guy right now, sending medical supplies to the west (which we already paid for). The media is playing along with this farce, but if lawyers start pulling on international legal treaties to demand evidence in preparation of a case, that would either force the Chinese to hand it over (good for our own scientists and health authorities) or, assuming they refused, fatally undercut their bullshit pretences.

The WHO should be included in that suit too.

That's my argument and I'm sticking to it.

It's especially noteworthy (if true) that the standard procedure for recording cause of death has been changed for COVID19. That would make all the difference in the world to the officially reported statistics and the government should urgently clarify if this is the case.
I get that the way the figures get reported gives us better insight as to whether this is more or less threatening than other viruses. However, what he fails to recognise, is that in all Countries where this has taken hold, there is significantly more pressure on health services, due mostly to the fact that this virus seems to hospitalise old and/or people with underlying health conditions.

The rate of deaths, whilst important, doesn’t matter in terms of the lockdown. The lockdown is to ease pressure on the health service, thus making deaths more avoidable.

People who have underlying health conditions would not die if this virus wasn’t out there. They might from seasonal flu, or other viruses, but the higher pressure on health services seems pretty well linked to Coronavirus.

I don’t doubt there is more at play here than it would appear, but I think his report is quite arrogant and self aggrandising.
It's better to burn out, than to fade away.

Well i of course won't read it because i won't go near the hate-fill cesspool of lies that is the m*il, but that seems a good summary of the type of gobshite that it gets to pull random prejudicial phrases out of a hat and throw them together

It's Hitchens! Of course it's arrogant. That's his routine.

We all know why self-isolation is necessary, and we know there were plenty of people who refused to go along with it. But total lockdown? Fines? Arrests? People grassing each other out? And (this one makes no sense at all) cars being stopped to ask if the journey is essential? Is that a thing now? No travel unless it's classed as essential by a copper? That's a really huge deal.

Being "guided by the science" and listening to the experts is also getting harder to do, given they have pretty much done a 180 on several critical (as in life and death) recommendations. First masks are no good, now they are good. First they advised not to "horde" (prepare), now they advise buying more in fewer trips is the way to go. Public gatherings were no problem, now it's 2 people maximum. Schools didn't need to be closed, now they are closed. And so on.

I get that nobody has had to deal with something like this on this scale for a century, I get the Chinese lied and made everything worse on an order of magnitudes, I get that more data is coming in all the time and allowing better informed decisions. But they have made some terrible decisions nonetheless. I'm hoping they don't make similarly terrible decisions when it comes to civil liberties.

This is from Johns Hopkins Univ. Hospital regarding COVID-19-

    * The virus is not a living organism, but a protein molecule (RNA) covered by a protective layer of lipid (fat), which, when absorbed by the cells of the ocular, nasal or buccal mucosa, changes their genetic code. (mutation) and convert them into aggressor and multiplier cells.
    * Since the virus is not a living organism but a protein molecule, it is not killed, but decays on its own. The disintegration time depends on the temperature, humidity and type of material where it lies.
    * The virus is very fragile; the only thing that protects it is a thin outer layer of fat. That is why any soap or detergent is the best remedy, because the foam CUTS the FAT (that is why you have to rub so much: for 20 seconds or more, to make a lot of foam).
By dissolving the fat layer, the protein molecule disperses and breaks down on its own.
    * HEAT melts fat; this is why it is so good to use water above 25 degrees Celsius for washing hands, clothes and everything. In addition, hot water makes more foam and that makes it even more useful.
    * Alcohol or any mixture with alcohol over 65% DISSOLVES ANY FAT, especially the external lipid layer of the virus.
    * Any mix with 1 part bleach and 5 parts water directly dissolves the protein, breaks it down from the inside.
    * Oxygenated water helps long after soap, alcohol and chlorine, because peroxide dissolves the virus protein, but you have to use it pure and it hurts your skin.
    * NO BACTERICIDE OR ANTIBIOTIC SERVES. The virus is not a living organism like bacteria; antibodies cannot kill what is not alive.
    * NEVER shake used or unused clothing, sheets or cloth. While it is glued to a porous surface, it is very inert and disintegrates only
-between 3 hours (fabric and porous),
    -4 hours (copper and wood)
    -24 hours (cardboard),
    - 42 hours (metal) and
    -72 hours (plastic).
But if you shake it or use a feather duster, the virus molecules float in the air for up to 3 hours, and can lodge in your nose.
    * The virus molecules remain very stable in external cold, or artificial as air conditioners in houses and cars.
They also need moisture to stay stable, and especially darkness. Therefore, dehumidified, dry, warm and bright environments will degrade it faster.
    * UV LIGHT on any object that may contain it breaks down the virus protein. For example, to disinfect and reuse a mask is perfect. Be careful, it also breaks down collagen (which is protein) in the skin.
    * The virus CANNOT go through healthy skin.
    * Vinegar is NOT useful because it does not break down the protective layer of fat.
    * The more confined the space, the more concentration of the virus there can be. The more open or naturally ventilated, the less.
    * You have to wash your hands before and after touching mucosa, food, locks, knobs, switches, remote control, cell phone, watches, computers, desks, TV, etc. And when using the bathroom.
    * Also keep your NAILS SHORT so that the virus does not hide there."

USA locked down until April 30. Suspect we'll soon hear the same.
