Well, I think it should be something which affects my life, or other people's.
Now of course the last year has affected all of our lives, but there has been a "situation". You can argue about whether the response has been correct - I think we broadly agree it hasn't. But it's difficult to sensibly argue that no response was required. As I've said, the response and the restrictions have varied as the data has, right now pretty much everything is open. Some restrictions remain but it's clear the direction of travel is towards "normality".

But I do agree that some of the restrictions imposed on protests are worrying, although it hasn't stopped people protesting so maybe that's not as draconian as it sounds.

Obviously I've never argued that no response was required. The response that should have been applied and had always been applied previously was long established and based on science. But it was thrown away. But I guess the same applies as the tennis thread. A discussion for elsewhere.
