Arsenal have received a boost with news that Abou Diaby is set for a return to action following a long-term ankle injury - although Jack Wilshere is likely to be sidelined until the end of January.

Diaby has missed the entire season for Arsenal so far and last played back in April when they drew 3-3 at White Hart Lane.

But he's handed Arsene Wenger some good news by declaring himself fit for the Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund.

“I am very happy - he has not played a minute this season and he had surgery in June”Arsene Wenger

Wenger said: "I am very happy - he has not played a minute this season and he had surgery in June."

Wilshere, meanwhile, will not be back in action for Arsenal until the end of January at the earliest.

There was a slight hope Wilshere would return ahead of schedule following ankle surgery but Wenger confirmed: "He will not be back before the end of January."

We get RvP ( )and lose Wilshere. The one consistent thing about Arsenal is the inability to get the strongest team on the pitch. This has been going on for years now. January "earliest" means the rest of the season, I suppose.

Wouldn't surprise me if Wilshere is the latest in a long line of season-long lay-offs for us.

Diaby is hit and miss but he had some real good games last season. I wonder how he'd do in this current set up.

I dunno. I reckon he'll take pity on Ramsey, Vermaelen and RVP, all of whom have had long lay offs with injury and don't deserve more time out.

    My money's on Gervinho.

Haters will hate. . .but Diaby has had some great games in the past. . .he is known for the odd brain fart though. . .however my money is on him fitting well to our current more honest, more balanced. . .more team oriented set up!

    Santos out for three weeks.

No point buying any more full backs, they'll just join the others on the treatment table.
