Also don't forget that fans not turning up was what did for wenger, so the fans do act, at the moment they have (some) faith with arteta so why not give him some backing, yes players wages are insane but hopefully we might see a correction in that as a result of the virus, as people simply won't be able to afford to go unless football reigns itself in
I had a season ticket for over 20 years. It did used to be a big part of my life. Now it isn’t.
Few reasons for that, dad and me used to go to games, it was our thing. As his dementia started to bite it got to the point where he wasn’t able to go so that was a factor. But also getting married, just generally getting older and the expense.
I can understand people for who it’s a big part of their lives but the clubs have certainly played on the fact that they know the fans can’t just go to the shop down the road, so to speak. The only option for fans is to withdraw their custom and while some did do that for a bit at the end of Wenger’s time, too many fans have kept on funding the clubs as the whole sport has slowly lost its soul and become a business rather than a sport.
It’s a shame, it’s not the sport I grew up with.

It's not the game it was, it's true, though at least some of the on-pitch (and definitely off-pitch) violence has receded and things like more subs and other rule changes have improved things

A pity the refs don't seem to get any better though...

"Why are footballers suddenly the scapegoats?"
So they don't want any attention now? There's a first.

I had an argument with a mate years ago when there was talk about refs becoming professional.
I always found it amazing that a game at the very top level had amateur officials.
My mate opined that the referees would get no better when they became professional.
I said of course they would.

He was right but I still don’t understand why.
Surely if it’s your entire sodding job you should be better than some amateur.

Can footballers really not go 5 minutes without being pricks?

They probably weren’t practicing social distancing then.

Who knew that giving young stupid men more money than they know what to do with would cause any problems?

The greedy vermin running the game have deliberately made it more difficult for them, with stupid, constantly changing, ambiguous rules and now deliberately mismanaged technology. All to inject a bit of controversy. And there are around 2 million more cameras pointing at the game, and even more idiots in studios doing "he touched him - it's a pen", one week and, "that's not enough to award a pen", bullshit the next. It's set up so they fail. Makes the game more unpredictable and keeps every fan thinking the world is against them, hence more determined to pony up for the next game.

If we had big enough rat traps and enough cheese we could solve the problem overnight.
