    Transfers

I've posted here before, but I can’t remember my username or password, and the registered email address must have been an old work one. So I've registered again.

Guys, I don’t think you are being fair to Wenger/ the Board here.

Looking at the cash we got for outgoing players – then adding the wages saved by getting them off the books, and comparing that to the transfers we made, and the cash committed to paying those wages for the duration of the new contracts – looks like this (very roughly)

    Original Kitty £35M

    Clichey £7M+ (52*55k) = £9.86 M
    Fabregas £35M+(208*110k) = £57.88 M
    Nasri £25M+(52*90k) = £29.68 M
    Traore £1M+(104*£20k) = £3.08 M
    Eboue £3M+(104*£50k) = 8.2M
    *Denilson (52*50k) = £2.6M
    *Lansbury (52*15k) = £1.04M
    *Campbell (52*15k) = £780k
    *Bendy (52*60k) = £3.224M

    Total Free Cash £153,424,000

    Jenkinson £1M+ (208*20k) = £5.16 M
    Oxlade £12M+(208*25k) = £17.2 M
    Gervinho £10M+(208*50k) = £20.4 M
    Arteta £10M +(208*90k) = 28.72M
    Santos £6.7M+(208*£50k) = £17.1 M
    Mertesacker £8.8M+(208*£80k) = 25.44M
    Benayoun (52*80k) = £4.16M
    Campbell £1M +(208*15k) = £4.12M
    Park £3M +(104*£40k)= £7.08M

    Stadium Debt £25M

    Total Committed Cash £154,380,000

    • Denotes loaned player, so assume we just save one year of wages.
    • (52*60k) = (wk X salary)

Genius if you ask me – we have invested in youth we can sell for a profit in the future, and added much needed defensive cover and experience where needed. The squad looks good.

I’ve missed Giles Sunu, and the Champs league money isn’t in the bank yet, so we should take enough funds into the January window for M’Vila if Song/ Frimpong don’t work out.

And with a bit of luck Almunia, Chamakh & Sqillaci could be added to the departures!!

We are never gonna sign a Kaka or a Messi, and as you can see, not a bad transfer window considering we balanced the books almost exactly.

The only really scandalous f*ck-up was that it couldn’t have all been done in June!!

Now the season has started, let’s get behind them all – In Arsene we trust

    PHW in disguise?

Please also run the number for the last few years, including the Ade and Toure sale...also show me how the above helps when you have a manager who is tactically useless and stubborn.

I would also like to know how balancing the books is going to redress the humiliation of being spanked 8-2...yes 8-2 by our once rivals.

We shall not even go onto the trophy drought....

So many more points i could add, but i am sure other will

    Point 1

Why was the original "kitty" 35M - where are you getting that from, and how do you know it is accurate? This is key. We made £56m pre-tax profit last year ALONE (this includes the debt repayments...)

According to http://www.transferleague.co.uk/leag...2003-2011.html (which I wouldn't rely on anyway...) since 2003 our net spend on transfers has been - (MINUS) £24 million. I.e. We've sold more than we've spent. Most clubs have a POSITIVE net spend (yes, even shit ones like Stoke & Bolton), so quite frankly I find it AMAZING that our entire transfer budget amassed over all these years of spending fuck all, is £35m.

Also I won't go into your wages / sale fees / knowledge about who is paying who's salary on the loans, I'll take your word for it...

    Point 2

Why have you factored in the stadium debt into the incoming transfers? By doing so you imply that the only way the stadium debt is financed is through the sale of players and from the (dubious) transfer "kitty" alone, rather than through commercial revenue. Surely if anything, the "kitty" is money that is left over after ALL our outgoings, including the debt repayments.

there are probably more points but honestly I don't have the time. It's midnight.

edit: WTF I just saw that you didn't even include the CL qualification money

Stopped caring about the financial state of this club a while ago.

Well, I stopped trying to understand what the fuck was going on.

All I care about is what happens on the pitch and from where I'm standing it ain't good.

The problem is this club is more interested in balancing the books than trying to achieve success on the pitch.

The bean counters may think so, but footballistically it's been a dreadful transfer window. We're considerably weaker in terms of quality than when the window opened.
