I don't understand, in principle in any medium-large company a Human Resources department is a necessary function.....why are they all so fucking useless though. It's not just incompetence either, it's laziness.

HR attracts the biggest jobsworths known to mankind. They are a bit like coppers, trained to behave like something that's different to human, that fucking calm and reasonable fascism because, well you know, it's the rules and it is impossible for the rules to be wrong or inappropriate under any circumstances. Little people with a little power. The term human resources says it all. They used to be personnel but that almost made them seem like they were the same as every other fucker working in the place, rather than being the lofty technocrats that sit above and direct and process the biological work units. HR is the only thing mass automation has going for it, eventually when everything is done by robots these fuckers won't be needed any more. Then they'll have to get jobs as traffic wardens.

Human Resources is a great name but that's all we are to them, just numbers on a spreadsheet.
Every request I've made to the lot here has been met by a complete brick wall full of "we can't do...". No, you mean you won't do...
