Let's say you want to have an atrocity in New York in 2001, killing large numbers of Americans so you can justify a war against Iraq, etc. So you what could you do? You could get aircraft and fly them into a building which you had previously laced with explosives which you detonate an hour or so after you have crashed the planes into the building. This takes a lot of people doing a lot of work setting it up in full view of the people of New York, requiring careful timing, etc. - a massive list of things that can go wrong and a lot of people you need to keep quiet. Or... You can get a large truck and fill it with explosives, drive it into the middle of New York, set a 5 minute timer and walk away. You get the same effect but you only need a couple of people to set it up and the task is totally simple.
What would you do? Obvious really. Also, the 'evidence' of the conspirators just does not stand up. It is total bollocks.
Now if you were to say that Bush took advantage of the 9/11 attack ,which had nothing to do with Sadam Hussein (who definitely would NOT want Al Qaeda to be around and would have destroyed them if he could since they would want his downfall too), using it as the excuse to then invade Iraq and get their oil back onto the world market to keep the price of petrol low - THAT is definitely a plausible claim.
None of this is the issue, it's the distraction. The issue is the US government lied about who was behind the attacks and how they were carried out. That much can be proven beyond reasonable doubt. It doesn't matter what other conspiracy theories crop up, they are irrelevant. The only conspiracy theory that matters is the one spun by the US government. It doesn't stand up to even the most basic scrutiny and the crime of 11/9 has yet to be investigated and those responsible brought to justice. That's an outrage that can't stand.

Do you believe that Atta, Jarah et al piloted these planes? (Given that Atta was overheard trying to talk to the passengers whilst trying to switch the plane transponder off). If you do believe that, do you think they were manipulated by another party despite Bin Laden appearing to take credit for these actions?.
Im not trying to scoff either, I genuinely want to know what you think. Whilst I firmly believe that this was an Al Queda organised and funded operation, and succeeded due to lax security on internal flights....I'm not so firm as to not be open to considering an alternative point of view.

It doesn't matter if Atta and Co piloted the planes. It matters who Atta was - the fact he's been reduced to some imbecilic parody of your stereotypical Muslim nutter is what's most revealing. Digging back into his history and finding out about the guy is important. All the methods that would be standard in a genuine investigation are what's important. Atta's just a name for a Warner Bros character now - you can call him anything and he remains the same ranting Paki, doesn't he?
Here's what all those offering an alternative conspiracy theory haven't figured out yet. They shouldn't be doing that! It's irrelevant and it's a trick used by those selling the official conspiracy theory. That's not how a real investigation works. You gather the evidence and piece together the motives, methods, money trail, persons of interest, and you verify and present the findings in a legal environment so justice can be served. None of this has happened. 6 of the 10 members on the farce that replaced a proper investigation don't believe their own findings! Nobody needs to talk about holographic planes and alien intervention (well not unless they are getting paid to do it). You just need to say hey, let's have an investigation because that thing you did proves absolutely nothing and can be knocked down by a feather.
The most dangerous aspect of this is the willingness of so many people to simply believe what they are told without looking. The official conspiracy theory is so ludicrous, so fundamentally flawed, so full of holes, and yet people just believe it - why? Because the government (proven to be liars time and time and time over) says so. And that's the critical issue at the heart of all of this. The peoples' willingness to be led by the nose by those who do not have their best interests (or any benign interest at all) at heart. The enemy. Always the same enemy. But if I have to play. There were several Attas - all spotted at various high visibility locations, sometimes simultaneously, prior to 11/9. So which Atta do you mean?
