(American) colleague of mine went to Tiananmen Square to look around yesterday
While there he met a “super nice” Chinese couple who said they’d like to practice their English, so he got talking to them and they asked if he’d like to go for a drink.
He said OK so they went for some tea and got some grapes and wine.
They got the bill and it was 3000 Yuan which is about £300!
They’d agreed to go halves so my colleague shelled out about £150 for some tea, grapes and wine!
