I was watching a video about this (possibly posted on here, or just on YouTube, can't remember).
And some "right on" lady was saying "I am a woman, that is my belief system".
It's not your belief system, you silly bint, it's your chromosomes.

    Been to Beijing with work.
It's brilliant. Would recommend. Summer Palace, The Forbidden City and it's not far to The Great Wall.

How many days do you need in beijing? Putting 1 day aside for the great wall.

Well...the only time I had to myself was a weekend, the rest was work. Got a feel for the place but there were things I'd liked to have seen but didn't get time to.
    Maybe 4 or 5 days?
Their metro system is brilliant by the way.

The wife wants to visit Beijing. China has never really appealed to me though, I’d rather go to Japan.

What was the food like? Nothing like what we get here I bet.

The food was brilliant and actually not too dissimilar to Chinese food here.
Some places though if there aren't English translations (the level of English there is pretty poor) you have to just point at stuff and hope it's OK!
    Generally is though.

Don't go to a hotpot place though. Bloody awful
One of my colleagues out there is very proud of one place and always takes people. You get a boiling pot of water with a burner under to keep it hot and they give you strips of meat which you have to pick up with chopsticks, deposit in said water for about 10 seconds so it boils (they're very thin strips and boil quickly) and then eat with various sauces. There are also vegetables and mushrooms.
Overall was very unimpressed, my ineptitude with chopsticks doesn't help, admittedly.

Hotpot in Sichuan was brilliant, it's a shame it's not as good in Beijing. The variety of things to dip in is much bigger than what you've described, not just strips of meat, and the pot has stuff already in to give everything a base flavour.

Doesn't hurt that it's all spicy as hell, which I love.
You used to be everything to me
    Now you're tired of fighting
