As I saw someone say elsewhere, they probably didn't want to get Al Capone on tax evasion, but whatever they could make stick.

Difference is they wanted to get anything to stick to Al Capone in order to get him off the streets. If they are hoping this will derail his political hopes…I can’t see it.

We are in a position where this man was only prevented from ignoring election results and staying in office by those within his own party who decided to actually stick to the rules. Such people will be removed and replaced by sycophants. And if a narrative is created by which he is seen to being targeted by the corrupt political establishment….is there going to be much outcry if he gets the state electorate to award him the electoral college points in states he doesn’t carry (and that’s even assuming he loses the election which can’t be guaranteed)

I’d be amazed if he won another election.
I don’t even think the GOP would select him as their candidate.
There are some Trump sycophants left in the party but quite a few turned against him when they saw the way the wind was blowing.
I was surprised Trump won in 2016 but, looking back, there was a big “Anyone but Hillary” vote. After the way he handled the pandemic and his actions after the election, culminating in the events of January 6th, he surely wouldn’t win another election and therefore I can’t see the GOP nominating him as their candidate.
If they did then he would get a lot of votes. There’s a hard core of support for him who would vote for him no matter what. But I don’t think it would be enough to win an election. It wasn’t last time, and that was before his behaviour since the election.

Holy shit the reaction, or rather overreaction, to his death has been ridiculous.

You get a lot of statues of people in Liverpool, there’s one of Ken Dodd that was erected a few years ago.

I think you're pushing it with Dodd ('legend' ), though I admit that, unlike O'Grady, he didn't actaully make me want to throw up

and yes the gush culture we have now is just too much

They tried to keep a lid on this…but they couldn’t find the right one.
